After the highs of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City, Arsenal are back in Premier League action on Wednesday night at home to Leicester City.
The reverse fixture finished 0-0 way back in August but the Gunners will be looking for all three points in order to keep up their pursuit of a top-four finish.
Arsene Wenger attended his regular pre-match press conference on Tuesday morning and confirmed reports that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain left Wembley on crutches.
“It was more precautionary,” Wenger confirmed. “It was not for a bad injury. We will test him today”
It seems there are a lot of unknowns ahead of the match at the Emirates. We’re entering a busy period of fixtures which means that rest days are vital. Arsene Wenger confirmed that his squad didn’t train yesterday as they look to recover in time for Wednesday’s match.
“[We’re in] unknown territory because the players were on recovery yesterday,” Wenger continued.
“We have a medical check today to see who is available and who is not. We have nobody really injured after the game.”
So there are a few unknowns ahead of the match with Leicester City. Some of the players – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in particular – looked exhausted after 120 minutes of __football at Wembley so this could be a good time for squad rotation. Players like Hector Bellerin and Mohamed Elneny could be called upon by Arsene Wenger for the clash.
