Kante Explains Why He Turned Down Arsenal

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has revealed why he opted to join the Blues and not Arsenal last summer.

The France international left Leicester City for Stamford Bridge for a fee in the region of £30m and has gone on to become a huge success with the Blues.

Arsene Wenger has previously admitted he twice tried to sign Kante and has hinted that the move failed due to financial reasons.

Kante has now given his take on the matter and has explained although there was interest from Arsenal it was not enough to convince him to move to north London.

“With Arsenal there was an interest but not a big as other clubs,” he said via The Metro.

“That is why I didn’t go to Arsenal and went to Chelsea.”

Kante looks set to win the Premier League title for a second season in a row having helped Antonio Conte’s side to the top of the table, seven points clear with eight games to go.

Arsenal’s failure to land Kante will bring further frustration to Gunners’ supporters with the midfielder having been imperious this season and widely tipped to land the PFA Player of the Year award.

The Gunners meanwhile, have struggled in midfield largely due to Santi Cazorla’s injury but with Aaron Ramsey, Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin also having missed chunks while Granit Xhaka is yet to consistently impress.
