Wenger To Sign New One-Year Arsenal Deal

Arsene Wenger will sign a contract extension that will keep him at Arsenal for one more year, according to the Sunday Express.

The Frenchman insisted after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to West Brom that he has finally made his mind up about his future and will reveal his decision soon.

The latest report claims that he has agreed a new one-year deal which comes as something of a compromise as the club originally offered him a two-year extension.

Wenger’s decision is bound to anger a huge section of the Arsenal support who are keen for the 67-year–old to step down when his contract expires this summer.

The club are currently on an awful run of form that has increased the pressure on the boss and riled the support who have now seen the club lose four of their last five Premier League games as well as being bundled out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich.

A host of names have been linked with replacing Wenger including Jorge Sampaoli and Ralph Hasenhüttl although Juventus boss Massimilano Allegri appears the big favourite currently.

Saturday’s defeat has left many fans questioning the players’ commitment to the cause while Wenger’s admission that he allowed Alexis Sanchez to continue playing despite suffering an ankle injury has raised further questions over his leadership.

Fortunately for Wenger, Arsenal will now take a breather from action due to the international break but a decision is needed on his future as soon as possible so the club can attempt to salvage the rest of the season before it’s too late.
