The Emirates hierarchy are reluctant to part company with a man who has brought them consistent success during a 21-year reign, and despite protests from fans want him to stay for another two years.

Their solution would see the 67-year-old Frenchman become the Arsenal's first Director Of Football with a figure like Thierry Henry as head coach.
