Premier League star on Arsenal transfer: This is my view now Jamie Vardy's having a party!

JAMIE VARDY insists he still has no regrets about snubbing Arsenal to stay at Leicester last summer.

The striker came close to securing a sensational switch to the Emirates following the Foxes' title-winning campaign.

Arsene Wenger met the England international's buy-out clause and a big contract was in the offing, but Vardy chose to continue his story with Leicester.

However, despite his prolific form last year, the 2016/17 season has proven far more challenging for the 30-year-old and his team-mates.

Claudio Ranieri's side sit precariously in 17th place, and Jamie Vardy has scored just five Premier League goals in 22 appearances.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are fourth, having alternated between Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud up front.

The Leicester forward was asked by BT Sport: "Are there any regrets about not joining Arsenal?'"

Vardy replied: "No regrets whatsoever."

On the situation at the King Power Stadium, he added: "We're all together, every person knows the position were in, nobody wants to be there and it's not looking good, but we know that each man has got to be there digging in deep and looking out for each other.

"If someone gets in a sticky situation you know that you've got your team-mates to help you out. We need to dig in for each other.

"I can categorically confirm that every single person is behind Claudio. At the end of the day look what he did for us last year, it was amazing and he's a great guy and he's the same as us, he doesn't want to be in this position."

Arsene Wenger wanted to bring Jamie Vardy to Arsenal last summer but he decided against the move

Leicester and Vardy earned a welcome boost last night amid their poor start to 2017 as a place in the Champions League quarter-finals is still possible.

The former Arsenal target scored a crucial away goal at Sevilla as the Foxes lost 2-1 in Spain.

Contrastingly, the Gunners have almost no hope of progression after their 5-1 mauling at Bayern Munich last week.

The Arsenal midfielder has missed most of this season and hasn’t played since October.

And he has suffered a setback with his ankle problem and is now looking at next season for his return, according to the Daily Mirror.

Cazorla, 32, has played just 10 times this season and has left a gaping hole in the Arsenal midfield.

Arsene Wenger's side have struggled in his absence with Jack Wilshere out on loan and Aaron Ramsey also struggling with injury.

Pressure has increased on Wenger following last week's Champions League humiliation in Munich.

But Cazorla's future appears secure after it emerged he has signed a one-year contract extension to stay next season.

However Wenger admitted he was frustrated with Cazorla's situation back in January.

“At the moment, he is far from returning,” he said.

“It’s not going as quickly as I imagined, so certainly in January he will not come back. It could be a bit longer (than three months).

“At the moment I don’t really know, but I just have a schedule that shows he is not planned to go outside and run at the moment.

“It is frustrating because he’s such a great player and because he has started the season in such a tremendous way. He was the dominating player in our squad at the start of the season and we suddenly lost him.”

WATCH: Arsenal Loanee’s Incredible Run And Dribble

Arsenal loanee Stephy Mavididi enjoyed a superb weekend in a sensational performance for Charlton Athletic in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Rochdale.

The teenager joined the Addicks on loan in January and came off the bench to produce a moment of magic in the League One clash.

WRITERS: AllArsenal are seeking new writers to join our fast-growing team - see here for more details.

Mavididi picked up the ball inside his own penalty area before setting off on an amazing dribble that Lionel Messi would have been proud of.

The striker jinked his way past almost half the Rochdale team on his way to the opposite area, showing real pace and power and leaving defenders trailing in his wake.

— Charlton Athletic FC (@CAFCofficial) February 19, 2017

Unfortunately for Mavididi he couldn’t quite find a finish to match his stunning run, his shot with the outside of his boot too close to the goalkeeper who managed to parry it.

Nevertheless it was a real moment of promise from the young Gunner who will be hoping for more chances to impress for Karl Robinson’s side.

Mavididi has made three appearances for Charlton since his move, and his manager says he has been impressed by the youngster.

“Young Stephy has certainly got some of our fans on the edge of their seats,” he said via London News Online.

“If that goal had gone in it would have been one of the best goals I’ve ever seen live. Unfortunately it wasn’t for him but then we scored from the corner. What I was more impressed with was when we scored the second – for a loan player to celebrate like he did shows that he really cares.

“You don’t always get that when you get players from big clubs. He really cares about the development of himself and the results of the club.”

Keep up the good work Stephy!

German Lessons – The Bayern Disaster Dissected

Wednesday 4th November 2015: Bayern Munich 5-1 Arsenal
Wednesday 15th February 2017: Bayern Munich 5-1 Arsenal

There’s no denying that one to eleven Bayern Munich were better than Arsenal. If the two starting teams were amalgamated there would be a case for Koscielny coming in for Martinez (a midfielder by trade, deputising for Boateng at centre back) but he’d be the only Arsenal representative. If Munich changed their shape, then Sanchez might get in. However, he’s not a better number nine than Lewandowski, a better winger than either Robben or Costa (Bayern are so blessed they had Ribery, Muller and Coman in reserve!) or a better play maker than Thiago Alcantara (is anyone?).

So, we were reminded there’s a gulf in class between the teams but what can we learn so that we improve?

In goal, Ospina bares no comparison to Neuer. While he pulled off some impressive saves, there’s a reason he’s second choice. He doesn’t dominate his area with the same presence as the giant German, who has now saved penalties from Ozil and Sanchez in The Champion’s League. Ospina shouldn’t have played a game of this magnitude, why he was given the nod ahead of Cech only Wenger knows.

Gibbs and Bellerin were given a masterclass in full back play by arguably the greatest left back, Alaba, and greatest right back, Lahm, on Earth. Gibbs’s Champion’s League career started with him being ripped apart at the Emirates by Ronaldo. Rightly, he was not castigated for this performance but given time to mature. It now feels like this time will never come. With Monreal the only other alternative, the moment has surely arrived for the club to seek a high quality left back.

On the other flank, Bellerin has a bright future. He’s young and if he wants to master his trade he need look no further than his opposite number. Lahm was outstanding. The timing of his runs faultless. He read the game beautifully, best demonstrated by a tactical foul on Oxlade-Chamberlain that snuffed out the hint of a chance Arsenal had. He’ll miss the second leg but is so savvy he knows he’ll return for the quarter final with no cards hanging over him. Bellerin must learn from players like Lahm.

Captain Koscielny was the only Arsenal player to leave Germany with his reputation enhanced. He showed the fight and leadership that was so lacking in his teammates and was unfortunate to get injured. The fact it’s yet another muscle injury for Arsenal should not be overlooked. Gabriel came on for the injured skipper, the game was simply too quick for him to get up to pace. He’s a good squad player, just not in the same class as Koscielny.

The other centre back, Mustafi, tried to fill the void left by the captain’s injury and failed spectacularly. Comfortably beaten in the air for the second goal by Lewandowski and a fault for the third. As Alcantara sliced through the heart of the team, Mustafi was too busy berating teammates, attempting to fill the vacuum left by Koscielny, instead of tracking his man. Unfortunately, there is little competition for his place so little chance of being rested (dropped). It was clear to see why he’s behind Boateng and Hummels for a starting place for Germany.

Central midfield, more than anywhere else on the pitch, is where Arsenal were truly outclassed. Alcantara, Alonso and Vidal against Ozil, Xhaka and Coquelin was akin to a mismatched boxing match. If it had been a fight, it would have been stopped. So much has been said and written about Ozil that there’s little point in expanding. On the night, Alcantara was everything Ozil was not. He worked hard when not in possession and was majestic with the ball; a truly world class demonstration of playmaking. Following a four game ban and the fact he can’t tackle (according to his own manager) what Xhaka was doing in the starting line-up is anyone’s guess. Whilst it’s his first season at the club and he must be afforded time and patience; he could do a lot worse than learn from Alonso how a deep lying midfielder should play the game. Alonso’s not great at tackling either but he’s so good at keeping the ball and dictating the tempo of the play, he doesn’t need to be.

It was a close run thing as to who was more disappointing in the middle of the park, Ozil or Coquelin. The young Frenchman had a night to forget and should be forced to watch the game, many times over, if he’s going to learn. Allowing Robben to drift in and shoot with his left foot was ridiculous. Coquelin is supposed to bring bite and steel to midfield but he managed just six passes and no tackles before being replaced. Vidal is someone he should model his game on. Unfortunately, he’s proved he’s simply not in Vidal’s league. If Arsenal are serious about winning trophies an upgrade is desperately needed.

On the wings, Bayern Munich have an embarrassment of riches, Arsenal do not. Oxlade-Chamberlain should feel aggrieved about being shunted out to the wing after playing well in central midfield recently. He was sloppy in possession but one of the few Arsenal players who genuinely looked like they were up for the fight and wanted to win the ball back. Carelessly conceding possession in such a dangerous area, which lead to the final goal, as he did against Monaco at the Emirates two years ago, was a black mark against him and raises questions about his concentration. Maybe Wenger has seen this and that’s why he rarely lasts ninety minutes?

The Ox appears to have reached an impasse in his Arsenal career. He cannot nail down a position or a starting spot in the team. He’s undoubtedly got ability and is worth persevering with but may feel he needs a new club or a new manager.

Iwobi, on the other wing, looked out of his depth. He’s a talented teenager, who’s having a great season but the step up in class was too much too soon. He didn’t know what to do when Lahm overlapped Robben and they doubled up on Gibbs. In his defence, he appeared to lack instructions or guidance from the bench. It’s unfair to expect such a young player to perform on such a stage. Hopefully he’ll learn from the experience, not be damaged by it and come back stronger. Arsenal not having an older player, like Costa or Robben at Munich or Pires and Overmars, to take him under their wing is such a shame. The poor lad needs to be given time, and taken out of the spot light.

The lack of a viable alternative (Joel Campbell) to push him for a starting spot makes this unlikely. Left wing is another position Arsenal must look to strengthen in the summer.

Up front, Sanchez cut a lone and frustrated figure. He’s not a classic number nine, he’s at his best when constantly involved in the game. Playing him behind a striker who can stretch the defence, like Welbeck, would allow him to be where he’s most dangerous; in the middle of the action both in midfield and attack. Against Bayern he was isolated and outnumbered. His weak penalty, which he did well to tuck away at the third attempt, hinted that the pressure got to him. What Arsenal would/should give for a striker of Lewandowski’s ability? Giroud is not that man. The club have been crying out for a lethal striker for years. Acquiring one in the summer must be a priority. Hopefully, Sanchez will stick around to play with him.

The man overseeing Arsenal being pulverised by the Bavarian juggernaut was Wenger. The same man in charge when Arsenal lost by the same result in the same stadium in 2015. The same man who set his team out the same way and showed no evidence of having learnt from history. He said he knew Bayern were going to dominate possession. So it’s safe to assume the best course of action would be to flood the midfield with all action players like Elneny, the Ox and Sanchez who are prepared to constantly press. With a quick striker (Welbeck) against the ageing Hummels and Martinez and a couple wingers instructed to run themselves into the ground, Arsenal would have stood a chance of weathering the storm and playing on the counter attack.

They may even have had something to cling onto in the second leg in London. Then creative talents, like Ozil, could have been brought on with a point to prove and a shot at reaching the quarter finals.

Instead, the same formation employed against Hull at home was played away in Munich. It’ll take a miracle to reach the quarter finals of The Champion’s League. The confidence of the players’ is gone. Every pundit is on Wenger’s back and the fans are ready to mutiny. The club didn’t learn from history. They repeated it with substandard players and tactical naivety. Now, they look doomed to another season of failure. Lessons can be taken from the game but there’s a lot we already knew.

Will Arsene and Arsenal ever learn?

Arsenal Must Improve As A Collective: Alexis Can’t Do It On His Own

By Hallet

It is hard to have much faith in Arsene Wenger and Arsenal right now – especially as the Gunners are heading backwards whilst the rest of their top four rivals are on the up. Prior to the 2-0 victory over Hull City last weekend, Arsenal had lost four of their last nine Premier League games and slipped further and further behind leaders Chelsea in the title race. Now, it would be fair to state that most of us fans have given up hope on a first crown since 2004 and yet another top four finish will have to suffice.

WRITERS: AllArsenal are seeking new writers to join our fast-growing team - see here for more details.

Of course there is the glimmer of hope for silverware with the FA Cup win over Sutton and the kind draw that sees them face Lincoln City on March 11th at Emirates Stadium, however it seems that familiar fallings continue to blight Arsene Wenger’s quest for another Premier League trophy as well as progression to the Champions League Quarter-Finals.

The whole team was missing and found wanting against Bayern Munich. Of course up popped Alexis Sanchez to bury home a woeful penalty attempt that was saved by Manuel Neuer, but the loss of Laurent Koscielny after the break saw the Gunners capitulate in horrific fashion. It is worrying times at Arsenal.

Alexis Sanchez had to dig them out of trouble in a game of two handballs against Hull City. Referee Mark Clattenburg missed the Chilean divert the ball into the Hull goal in the first half but he was eagle-eyed when Sam Clucas blocked Lucas Perez’s effort in the dying embers.

Sometimes these decisions go your way, other times they don’t, but Arsenal were certainly grateful for the breathing space after a late Hull siege. The ever-reliable Sanchez duly converted from the spot to ensure that Arsenal got back to winning ways after successive defeats to Watford and Chelsea.

Yet despite the three points, there was an aura of disappointment and lack of atmosphere around the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal struggled to put Hull away and better finishing from the Tigers could have cost the Gunners dearly once again.

A huge number of Arsenal’s key names aren’t playing well enough right now and Arsene Wenger needs to be mix things up when naming his starting line-up and rekindle the spark that has been missing for a number of months now. At this stage of the season, Arsenal cannot afford to carry any passengers. Everybody needs to be in good form.

Mesut Ozil has struggled for form at times this year and Wenger has done his best to support the Germany midfielder despite calls for him to be dropped (via Independent). Rested for the match against Sutton in order to recuperate, Ozil has scored just twice since November 1st – a return that simply isn’t good enough considering his price tag and sparkling form at the start of the campaign. He has performed admirably since moving to the Premier League but his head looks elsewhere right now; it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see him push for a transfer away from Arsenal this summer.

On the other hand, Sanchez is clearly taking it game by game and works tirelessly for the Arsenal cause. The Chile star is currently leading the way at the top of the Premier League’s Golden Boot charts and it would take a brave man to back against Arsenal’s main man right now.

At the time of writing, Sanchez is 4/1 with 888sport to finish as the top goal scorer this season and plenty of Gunners fans will fancy the former Barcelona star to do just that, even with questions over his future clouding his preparation every time he steps onto the pitch.

Wenger has a few tough choices to make ahead of the business end of the campaign but one thing is for sure: Arsenal are relying on Sanchez in the fight for the top four. And while the Chile star is an exceptional talent, the Gunners will miss out if the likes of Ozil continue to cruise through matches in second gear.

Arsenal On Alert As Sampaoli Delays Contract Renewal

Arsenal are reportedly on alert after Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli admitted he was in no rush to sign a contract extension with the Liga side.

The Argentine’s team have enjoyed a stunning season in Spain and are currently third in the table just two points behind Barcelona in second.

WRITERS: AllArsenal are seeking new writers to join our fast-growing team - see here for more details.

Sevilla’s attractive, attacking __football has seen Sampaoli widely praised and he has been heavily linked with replacing Luis Enrique should he leave Barcelona this summer when his contract expires.

However, The Mirror are reporting that he could become an option for Arsenal, who may be in the hunt for a new coach should Arsene Wenger depart at the end of the season.

Sevilla have offered their coach a one-year extension to his current deal but speaking ahead of his side’s Champions League clash with Leicester he admitted he was in no rush to sign it.

“We appreciate that they are trying to renew our contracts but to do that while we are in the present is very difficult,” he said.

“We only want to live in the moment. The way we work is like this and there are many reasons to appreciate the present.”

Sampaoli came close to a move to the Premier League last summer after revealing recently that he was in negotiations with Chelsea before the club appointed Antonio Conte.

The Argentine won the Copa America with Chile in 2015 and his arrival may certainly please Alexis Sanchez who played under Sampaoli for the national side.

Certainly the colourful 56-year-old would be an excellent candidate to replace Wenger and would definitely ensure exciting __football at the Emirates, although Barcelona may be his preferred destination.

Iwobi Posts Worrying Injury Update After Sutton Clash

Alex Iwobi has posted a worrying update on snapchat following Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Sutton United.

Goals from Lucas Perez and Theo Walcott sent the Gunners into a quarter-final clash with Lincoln but the win may have come at a cost.

WRITERS: AllArsenal are seeking new writers to join our fast-growing team - see here for more details.

Iwobi was left hobbling after a heavy challenge but continued before being replaced by Alexis Sanchez in the second half and looks to have picked up a problem.

The news will be a blow for Arsene Wenger with Iwobi having made 33 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners this season.

Arsenal do however, have a short break until they are next in action as their clash with Southampton on Saturday has been postponed with the Saints set to face Manchester United in the EFL Cup final on Sunday.

The Gunners next game is the trip to face Liverpool on Saturday 4 March before the return leg against Bayern Munich the following Tuesday.

While Iwobi’s injury is badly timed it could be good news for Lucas Perez who could be handed a chance to impress.

The forward’s agent has admitted he has grown frustrated at Arsenal with his lack of game time and is keen to leave.

Wenger admitted after the win over Sutton that Perez deserved more opportunities in the first team, although he still faces fierce competition with Arsenal well stocked in attack.

The ultimate David vs Goliath FA Cup match got underway in front of the lowest crowd an Arsenal first-team has played a match to since records began. Just over 5000 people were at Gander Green Lane to watch a decent start for the home side.

Sutton got into some dangerous positions early on, particularly out wide but seemed to lack the final ball. A number of the home side’s crosses were either over-hit or well off target. Sutton reached the 27th minute with their clean sheet intact and began pushing up the pitch and the Gunners capitalised. A long ball out wide found Lucas Perez in space. The Spaniard cut inside before hitting a low, curling cross-shot towards Theo Walcott. The Englishman tried to flick the ball but that didn’t matter. Perez’s ball in evaded everyone and curled into the far corner to put the Gunners ahead.

Half-time came and went and Arsenal made one change after the break. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain replaced Mohamed Elneny who picked up a knock in the first 45. It made a difference to the Gunners.

Oxlade-Chamberlain drove the Arsenal forward from the centre of midfield but it was Lucas Perez who cut through the home side. The Spaniard picked the ball up on the edge of the Sutton area but squared it to his countryman Nacho Monreal. The full-back’s cross went all the way to the back post and an awaiting Theo Walcott. Arsenal’s number fourteen found the net for the 100th time in his Arsenal career.

Sutton started to come back into the match at 2-0. Roared on by a passionate Gander Green Lane crowd, the home side had a couple of opportunities which really should’ve been taken before the impressive winger Roarie Deacon smacked a 25-yard drive straight into the Arsenal crossbar.

Alexis Sanchez was introduced late on as the Gunners closed the game out to progress to the next round.

GK) David Ospina – 4

He had a pretty poor game between the sticks. David Ospina made a couple of straightforward saves but didn’t exactly fill his teammates with confidence. The Colombian flapped at a couple of crosses and even gave a goal kick straight to a Sutton attacker in the first-half.

RB) Gabriel Paulista – 5

The Brazilian struggled against winger Roarie Deacon but had a reasonable match on the whole. Gabriel Paulista offered little going forward but was solid enough, particularly in the air.

CB) Rob Holding – 6

Barring a close call or two, he had a decent game at centre-back. Rob Holding was decent in possession and used his experience well after playing a couple of similar matches for Bolton Wanderers last season.

CB) Shkodran Mustafi – 6

As the senior player in the centre of Arsenal’s defence, he put in a good performance. Shkodran Mustafi was solid in the air and kept the Sutton forwards quiet.

LB) Nacho Monreal – 7

He spent most of the night camped out in Sutton’s half and laid a ball on a plate for Theo Walcott to get his 100th Arsenal goal. Nacho Monreal has had tougher games in his career defensively but did well.

Arsenal have made a number of changes for the clash. David Ospina starts in goals again but the Colombian plays behind an much-changed back four. Gabriel Paulista and Nacho Monreal come in at full backs while Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding start in the centre.

Granit Xhaka keeps his place in midfield but will partner Mohamed Elneny instead of Francis Coquelin who is dropped to the bench.

Lucas Perez and Jeff Reine-Adelaide start out wide with Alex Iwobi supporting Theo Walcott up front.

There is a place on the bench for Per Mertesacker for the first time this season.

Here’s how the teams line up:

Arsenal Give Ozil Time Off To Rest Back Problem

Arsenal have given Mesut Ozil time off in a bid to cure an ongoing back problem the Germany international has been struggling with.

The Times reports that the 28-year-old was left out of Monday’s trip to Sutton United in the FA Cup after suffering back spasms and has travelled to Germany to spend time with his family.

WRITERS: AllArsenal are seeking new writers to join our fast-growing team - see here for more details.

Ozil has reportedly been playing through the pain barrier recently which could explain his recent dip in form that has seen him come in for criticism and also led to calls he should be dropped.

The German is without a goal since scoring in the 3-1 win over Stoke back at the start of December and has managed just two assists in his last 10 games.

Arsenal do now have time to rest their players with the Gunners not in action until next weekend when they face a tricky trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool.

Ozil is expected to be fit for the clash against Jurgen Klopp’s men with Arsenal out for revenge against a side that beat them 4-3 at the Emirates on the opening day of the season.

Injuries are becoming a big factor in the club’s run-in yet again with Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Laurent Koscielny all currently sidelined while Mohamed Elneny and Alex Iwobi picked up knocks against Sutton.

Koscielny, Iwobi and Elneny should all be fit to face Liverpool and Arsenal will need to be at full-strength against the Reds who returned to form with a 2-0 win over Tottenham last time out.

Wenger To Drop Three Big Names After Bayern Collapse – Sutton United v Arsenal [Predicted Lineups]

Arsenal take on Sutton United this evening in the fifth round of the FA Cup and we expect Arsene Wenger to make a number of changes. It’s been five days since the humiliating 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich and another one tonight at the hands of non-league Sutton will surely be the end of Arsenal’s season.

Here’s how we think Arsenal will line up:

GK) David Ospina

We expect the Colombian to be one of the few Arsenal players to keep their places in the starting lineup. David Ospina conceded five goals and didn’t have the best of nights in Munich but has been Wenger’s first choice in the FA Cup this season and we expect that to continue.

RB) Hector Bellerin

We expect the Spaniard to keep his spot at right-back for the clash. Hector Bellerin didn’t have the best of evenings in Munich but has played in a number of cup matches this season.

CB) Rob Holding

We predicted a reshuffle in the centre of defence with Rob Holding coming in for Laurent Koscielny. The Frenchman went off injured in Munich and coming from the lower leagues himself, Holding probably has more experience in matches like this than anyone else in the squad.

CB) Per Mertesacker

We predict a first start of the season for Per Mertesacker alongside the youngster. Shkodran Mustafi could just as easily come in but we this match as a good opportunity for Mertesacker to get minutes on the pitch.

LB) Nacho Monreal

After back-to-back starts for Kieran Gibbs, we think that Nacho Monreal will come back into the side at left-back.

Lucas Perez Responds To Claims He Wants To Quit Arsenal

Lucas Perez has spoken out after his agent claimed he wanted to leave Arsenal “at all costs” after becoming frustrated with a lack of game time at the Gunners.

The summer signing has made just two starts for the club this season and has struggled to force his way into Arsene Wenger’s starting XI.

WRITERS: AllArsenal are seeking new writers to join our fast-growing team - see here for more details.

Perez scored the opening goal in Monday’s 2-0 win over Sutton in the FA Cup with Wenger admitting after the game he was pushing for starts now.

The 28-year-old says that while he does want to play more he understands there is competition for places and that he must prove his worth to Wenger

“Arsenal are a big team and the competition for places is big. Everyone wants to play and it’s normal. Today I am happy because I played and scored a goal,” he told Cadena Cope.

“Now I need to continue like this to convince the boss to trust more on me. Obviously everyone expects to play more. After I scored the hat-trick [against Basel] the boss did not count much with me.

“But that also means that team-mates are very good. The team have not had a bad streak of losing three or four matches in a row.

“The competition is great and you have to wait for your moment to make the most of the opportunity when it arrives.”

Perez has also backed manager Wenger who has come in for fierce criticism following the mauling by Bayern.

“It’s normal that after the defeat to Bayern there were criticisms. At the moment he does not transmit us the idea that he is going to leave, but we do not know what’s going on in his mind,” he added.

“He is very excited about this season. He is calm. He has been here for a long time and has a lot of experience. He will know what is best for the club and for him.

“In the Champions League we have a very complicated game. Bayern are one of the best teams in the world and after conceding five goals it will be very difficult. But we will fight to try to win the match at home.”

Iwobi And Koscielny Set To Return To Training

Laurent Koscielny and Alex Iwobi are set to give Arsenal a huge boost by returning to training this week as the Gunners prepare for the trip to Anfield to face Liverpool, according to Standard Sport.

Koscielny has been sidelined since picking up a thigh problem during the Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich while Iwobi injured an ankle against Sutton United on Monday.

WRITERS: AllArsenal are seeking new writers to join our fast-growing team - see here for more details.

Iwobi posted a worrying update on social media after the game, showing his ankle heavily strapped but the injury is not serious and he is expected to train on Thursday.

The Gunners are also hopeful midfielder Aaron Ramsey could be fit enough to start training next week with the club having a rare weekend off as their scheduled game against Southampton has been postponed due to the Saints’ involvement in the EFL Cup final.

Mesut Ozil is also due to train this week after having been given a few days off to rest a back problem.

One man who is a doubt, however, is Mohamed Elneny who was forced off against Sutton and is due to have a scan on an ankle injury.

Having beaten Sutton on Monday night, Arsenal will not play again until next Saturday when they take on Liverpool before the return leg against Bayern and their FA Cup quarter-final against Lincoln.

The rest will surely be welcomed by Arsene Wenger as it gives him time to get some of his injured players back ahead of a tough game at Anfield.

Arsenal have dropped to fourth place in the table after defeats to Watford and Chelsea and a strong finish to the season is now needed, starting against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Sutton United v Arsenal [Team News] – Wenger Provides Crucial Update On Koscielny’s Fitness Wenger Insists He Won’t Retire, Could Move Elsewhere

Arsene Wenger has given a crucial update on the fitness of Laurent Koscielny as Arsenal prepare for a trip to non-league Sutton United. The defender limped off just after half-time during the defeat to Bayern Munich and is set for a scan (via Arsenal.com).

There’s a real feeling of David vs Goliath ahead of Arsenal’s trip to non-league Sutton United. However, considering what has happened to Arsenal in the last couple of days, the Gunners are probably David.

Arsene Wenger’s future was the main topic of conversation in his pre-match press conference but he also gave the latest team news ahead of the clash. The most pressing issue was the fitness of Laurent Koscielny and the boss was pressed for an update.

“He has a scan today,” Wenger claimed before confirming that he would take a “normal team” to Sutton United for the game.

Wenger Insists He Won’t Retire, Could Move Elsewhere

It seems that this team will also have a mix of youth and experience. Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Ainsley Maitland-Niles have starred in cup competitions this season. So much so that the pair have even broken into the squad for Premier League matches. Wenger confirmed that both players will once again be involved.

“Yes, but I gave a chance because they deserve to play and have a good opportunity to show they can come in for players who usually play,” Wenger confirmed.

“I think they have done well and one or two might have an opportunity to say they can play in every game now.”

A victory over Sutton United is an expectation but there is more than a little trepidation from many Arsenal fans. Three defeats in four matches have meant that the Gunners are effectively out of both the Premier League title race and the Champions League. The FA Cup is the only thing left for Arsene Wenger to win in what could be his final season in charge of the club.

Thomas Tuchel: The Perfect Replacement For Wenger

Thomas Tuchel, the current manager of the major German club Borussia Dortmund, would be the perfect replacement for current Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Dortmund are not having the best Bundesliga campaign at the moment, but that can mostly be attributed to the vast number of youth players in the first team. Dortmund have an exciting, fast-paced attacking style and have banged in 43 goals in 21 games during the current campaign while developing a lot of young stars.

WRITERS: AllArsenal are seeking new writers to join our fast-growing team - see here for more details.

Acquiring the Dortmund manager at Arsenal would likely help bring some young Dortmund players along with him to North London. Dortmund, like Arsenal, hace been very successful in sourcing highly rated young players at the club and allowing them to express themselves on the field.

Here are some young Dortmund stars who could follow Tuchel to Arsenal:

Ousmane Dembele Arsenal

RM) Ousmane Dembele

Ousmane Dembele, 19, is a tricky winger who is touted as the next big star, and he has already made a huge impact at the German club. In 13 Bundesliga appearances, with seven of them being starts, Dembele has notched five goals and eisn’t assists. In seven Champions League appearances, Dembele has recorded one goal and five assists (via WhoScored.)

ST) Emre Mor

Emre Mor, 19, is a very exciting young prospect with dribbling skills and quickness which are extremely impressive for a player of his age. He has already made 4 starts for the black and yellow giants, and he has registered 1 goal and 2 assists in those games according to WhoScored.

CDM) Julian Weigl

Julian Weigl, 21, is a promising young center defensive midfielder who has made 18 Bundesliga and six UEFA Champions League appearances for Borussia Dortmund. Arsenal thought they solidified the CDM poisition when they signed tactician and excellent passer of the ball, Granit Xhaka. However, this was not the case as Xhaka has shown time and time again to make rash decisions which cost the Gunners. Weigl could be the player Arsenal have been looking for in the CDM position.

Here are some established stars who could follow Tuchel to Arsenal:

Marco Reus Arsenal

LM) Marco Reus

It seems like every year Arsenal is linked with the German international star, but whether it be his injury concerns, Dortmund asking for an absurd amount of money for him, or Reus simply not wanting to come, bringing Tuchel to Arsenal definitely would give the North London club a better chance of acquiring his signature. Reus is definitely an established star player who, when healthy, could start in any team in the world. Signing a player with his quality would definitely give Arsenal a great chance of winning the Premier League.

ST) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Aubameyang is without a doubt one of the best strikers in the world at the moment. He won the African player of the year for 2016, and has 17 goals in 19 Bundesliga games this season. Last season, he finished the Bundesliga campaign with 25 goals and 5 assists in 28 starts according to ESPN FC. Bringing the Gabon international to Arsenal would be a signing on the level of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

Tuchel’s contract with Dortmund expires in 2018 and he is no rush to sign a new one according to Goal. The 6’4″ German speaks basically perfect English, has a great system of developing young players, and believes in a beautiful exciting brand of futbol and this would all fit Arsenal perfectly.

Report: Arsenal Sent Scouts To Watch Young Defender Issa Diop

Arsene Wenger has reportedly sent scouts to the Ligue 1 talent pool once again with Toulouse defender Issa Diop at the top of the list. The Gunners had representatives as Dia’s side met PSG over the weekend but they’ll face stiff competition for the 20-year-old (via Sport Witness).

There may be growing speculation over Arsene Wenger’s future at Arsenal but it seems that the club are still planning for the future.

WRITERS: AllArsenal are seeking new writers to join our fast-growing team - see here for more details.

Reports in France indicate that the Gunners sent scouts to Toulouse’s trip to PSG. The game finished 0-0 and after picking up an impressive clean sheet, France Football claim that Arsenal were focussed on Toulouse youngster Issa Diop.

The publication reports that Arsenal will face some competition for the player. Scouts from Tottenham Hotspur were also in attendance and the player has also been the subject of reported interest from Manchester City.

Diop is a 20-year-old centre-back who has represented France at youth level up to under-21. He stands well over six feet and has been a regular part of the Toulouse side since breaking through in November last season.

In terms of playing style, stature and history, there are obvious comparisons between Diop and Chelsea man Kurt Zouma. With Diop, Zouma, Presnel Kimpembe, Samuel Umtiti and Aymeric Laporte, France is a country spoilt with young centre-backs right now.

The Gunners aren’t exactly bare in the position either. Rob Holding is the obvious standout name but there are also Calum Chambers as well as Shkodran Mustafi who is still just 24. Issa Diop is an interesting prospect but would need to be an upgrade on what Arsenal already have if he is to be a worthwhile signing.

Arsenal player: Arsene Wenger has told me I am the future of the club Arsenal line-up predicted to face Bayern Munich

ARSENAL goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has revealed Arsene Wenger believes he is the future of the club.

Martinez is currently third choice at the Emirates behind Petr Cech and David Ospina.

But the Argentine, who spent time at Wolves last season, signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal last November.

And the 24-year-old has now claimed Wenger feels he is the future of the club.

Arsenal ace considering swift exit: This is what he wants Arsenal line-up predicted to face Bayern Munich

LUCAS PEREZ will reportedly contemplate quitting Arsenal at the end of the season if he continues to struggle for game time.

The forward only joined last summer from Deportivo La Coruna for £17million.

And while he has impressed in fleeting spells, the 28-year-old has failed to establish himself as a key player in north London.

Arsene Wenger has preferred Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud up front, while 20-year-old Alex Iwobi has featured more at left-wing.

And according to the Daily Mail, the Spaniard will consider moving on just one year after arriving in England.

Despite his five goals across the EFL Cup and Champions League, a future as an influential player for Arsenal appears unlikely.

He is part of Arsenal’s squad travelling to Germany to face Bayern Munich tomorrow night (7.45pm), but he is not expected to start the crunch tie, despite the Gunners’ injury problems.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: This is why I'm confident Arsenal can beat Bayern Munich Arsenal jet off to Munich for Champions League showdown

ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN believes Arsenal will use past experiences to their advantage when they face Bayern Munich tomorrow (7.45pm).

Arsenal topped their Champions League group for the first time since 2012 but were drawn a tough fixture against five-time champions Bayern Munich.

Arsenal are very familiar with the Bundesliga giants as this will be the fourth time in five years the two will meet in the Champions League.

Bayern hold the slight edge over Arsenal in terms of head-to-head results in recent years, winning three to the Gunners' two.

But Arsenal will hold solace that they've only lost once at the Allianz Arena in their recent match-ups.

And Oxlade-Chamberlain is confident Arsenal can come away with a positive result from the last-16 first leg.

"I can remember a time... I think we lost to them at the Emirates when I think Wojciech might have got sent off in the first half," Oxlade-Chamberlain told Arsenal's official website.

"But I remember in the first 20 minutes of that game being really strong and we felt like we were dominating them and we had the crowd behind us and we had that belief and the way we were playing, we were causing them a lot of trouble.

"So we've had good experiences and we’ve had bad experiences and you know, there’s times when we’ve struggled against them and it proves what a great team they are, and there’s times where we’ve turned up and we’ve done really well and it proves they’re not immortal.

"They’re a very good team, but so are we if we play as good as we can on the day. We can cause them enough troubles and go on and win.

"Obviously we’ve had a few good experiences at the Allianz too. I think we’ve drawn once, a tough game and obviously we’ve won there.

"So we’ve proved enough to ourselves over the years that we’re good enough to come away with the right result, we just need to focus on how we’re going to do it and come up with the plan and then it’s all about delivering on the day and that’s going to be the difference."
