Iwobi And Koscielny Set To Return To Training

Laurent Koscielny and Alex Iwobi are set to give Arsenal a huge boost by returning to training this week as the Gunners prepare for the trip to Anfield to face Liverpool, according to Standard Sport.

Koscielny has been sidelined since picking up a thigh problem during the Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich while Iwobi injured an ankle against Sutton United on Monday.

Iwobi posted a worrying update on social media after the game, showing his ankle heavily strapped but the injury is not serious and he is expected to train on Thursday.

The Gunners are also hopeful midfielder Aaron Ramsey could be fit enough to start training next week with the club having a rare weekend off as their scheduled game against Southampton has been postponed due to the Saints’ involvement in the EFL Cup final.

Mesut Ozil is also due to train this week after having been given a few days off to rest a back problem.

One man who is a doubt, however, is Mohamed Elneny who was forced off against Sutton and is due to have a scan on an ankle injury.

Having beaten Sutton on Monday night, Arsenal will not play again until next Saturday when they take on Liverpool before the return leg against Bayern and their FA Cup quarter-final against Lincoln.

The rest will surely be welcomed by Arsene Wenger as it gives him time to get some of his injured players back ahead of a tough game at Anfield.

Arsenal have dropped to fourth place in the table after defeats to Watford and Chelsea and a strong finish to the season is now needed, starting against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
