‘At The End Of The Season We’ll See’ – Ozil Opens Up On Arsenal Future

Mesut Ozil says he will wait until the end of the season to decide his Arsenal future but insists he is “very happy” at the club.

The Germany international has yet to agree a contract extension on his current deal which expires next summer with speculation increasing he could leave.

Arsenal are said to planning for next season without Ozil and Alexis Sanchez with manager Arsene Wenger keen to bring in Alexandre Lacazette and Kylian Mbappe as replacements.

Turkish side Fenerbahce have also been linked with a move for Ozil with the club keen to sign a big-name replacement for Robin van Persie.

Ozil, who reportedly wants a huge pay rise to stay in north London says nothing is agreed yet and he is in no rush to decide his future.

“The fact is I’ve still got a contract in London,” he said via The Mirror.

“To speculate now would be wrong. At the end of the season we will see, there will be talks.

“I’m very happy at Arsenal and in London.”

Ozil has previously insisted that he would only stay at the club if Wenger does and he admits he has no idea what the Frenchman will decide to do but is convinced his team can turn their current poor form around.

“I don’t know what he [Wenger] will decide,” he added. “That’s something we will have to wait for.”

“We are having a difficult phase. Somehow something is not working with the team. We are letting in a lot of goals. Maybe it’s down to self-belief. When I look at the quality of Arsenal though I’m convinced we will get on a run again soon.”

The futures of Ozil, Sanchez and Wenger have dominated the headlines for too long now and the uncertainty is clearly not helping the team with some clarity required as soon as possible.
