The Frenchman spoke about his future at his pre-match press conference again this morning amid the growing backlash from supporters. The calls for Wenger to step down at the end of the season are growing in volume and the Frenchman was asked whether it would affect his decision to stay or go.
“Yes, of course – you consider everything,” he replied. “It will not be the most important factor. But you consider of course.
“No [I have not made a decision]. My decision is to focus on the next game and make absolutely sure we respond well on Saturday.
“I worked very hard for 20 years to make fans happy and when you lose games I understand they are not. I don’t want to judge that. You have to accept different opinions.”
It’s good that Wenger is taking the opinions of fans into consideration. The Frenchman is undoubtedly the most powerful senior figure within the club so it’s good to see him acknowledge that whether he decides to stay or go, the supporters will be at the club next season regardless.
