Arsene Wenger wasn’t in the best mood during his pre-match press conference on Thursday. Perhaps irritated by the constant questions on fan protests and his own future, the Frenchman did give an update on the team news ahead of Saturday’s clash with West Bromwich Albion.

“Gibbs is uncertain at the moment,” Wenger confirmed. “Oxlade-Chamberlain has a test today, but overall it’s the squad that was available [for Lincoln]. Elneny has joined in again. Apart from Cazorla, we should have everybody available.

“Elneny has joined in again. Apart from Cazorla, we should have everybody available.”

Mohamed Elneny has been out of action since picking up an ankle injury during last month’s FA Cup victory over Sutton United. Wenger was asked if he expected the midfielder to return so soon.

“No, because at the start it looked like it was a very bad ankle injury,” the Frenchman went on.

“He has recovered well because he’s a very strong boy and very keen to come back as quickly as possible. It worked well for him.”

It’s a crucial match against West Brom on Saturday. The Gunners need to win to keep up with the chasing pack so it’s a boost to see Mohamed Elneny back in training. Hopefully, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieran Gibbs will both return soon to help with the final push in the coming months.
