The likes of England youth international Ryan Ledson and Kieran Dowell made their first team debuts in a Europa League group stage dead-rubber against Krasnodar back in December.
Dowell is currently nursing an injury and Martinez fears Ledson, who captained England to European Championship U17 success last May, is suffering from the effects of burn-out.
Everton boss Martinez said: “One of our problems in British football with developing young players is we talk about giving them a few games and experimenting with them for a few games. That doesn’t work. That doesn’t develop youngsters. “
