Samir Handanovic may leave Inter for Champions League side, says Mancini

Juve draw the week after clinching the Serie A title while both Milan clubs celebrated victories this weekend in Italy.

Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini admits he may be powerless to prevent Samir Handanovic from leaving this summer since he cannot guarantee the goalkeeper Champions League football.

Negotiations over a new contract for the 30-year-old Slovenian have stalled and Mancini has revealed that the problem is not of a financial nature.

Inter's win over Lazio on Sunday kept them in the running for a place in the Europa League next season, but no more than that -- and Mancini says it is the goalkeeper's ambitions which Inter cannot currently fulfil.

"I've read that he wants to play in the Champions League and that's perfectly legitimate," Mancini told  following the win.

"We cannot assure him that. You've got to be able to respect a player's wishes, particularly when they are over 30.

"He's one of the best goalkeepers in Europe and he's doing a great job and made some fine saves again tonight.

The goalkeeper has been in impressive form despite Inter's disappointing campaign.

"I don't know exactly what's going on with his contract -- it's the club who are talking with him.

"I can't exclude that an agreement will be reached which satisfies both sides, but we'll have to see if that means we get to keep hold of him."

had both previously been linked with Handanovic, although they no longer seem to be in the market for a new goalkeeper.
