Alexis Looks Like Sergio Aguero On Current Form, Says Keown

Martin Keown says Alexis Sanchez looks like Sergio Aguero on current performances with the Chile international in red hot form for the Gunners.

Sanchez has been leading the line for Arsenal in recent weeks, which has prompted much debate amongst supporters, but has already scored five goals with the team on an impressive run having won their last four games on the trot.

Keown is adamant that Sanchez should remain playing up front and says his work-rate and ability make him a nightmare to play against.

“I saw him play up front for Chile at the World Cup, having only ever seen him play out wide for Barcelona, and his work-rate, pace and ability on the ball were so impressive,” he told the Daily Mail.

“Defenders hate that, I remember playing against Ian Rush and he was an absolute pest – you didn’t want the ball when he was around.

“When Wenger signed Sanchez I thought Arsenal’s closing down from the front was going to be the best it’s ever been, and it’s been a mystery to me why it’s taken so long for him to be played down the middle.

“He has looked fantastic there so far and he will only get better as he learns more about the position. Over the past few matches I can’t think of another striker who has contributed more to the team than him – he’s looked like Sergio Aguero of late.”

Sanchez is already well on his way to becoming one of Arsene Wenger’s greatest ever signings having proven a huge hit since his move from Barcelona in 2014. The only slight concern is his contract, which is due to expire in 2018, and the club must do all it can to tie the Chilean down to a new long-term deal as soon as possible.
