Arsenal Target Planning To Leave Dortmund At End Of Season

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is planning to leave the club at the end of the season, according to German newspaper Bild.

Earlier this week we brought you news that Arsenal tried to sign the Gabon international in January and made a club record bid of €60 million that was rejected. Dortmund reportedly wanted €100m for their star man, with Real Madrid also interested.

However, the Gunners could be tempted to try again with the report claiming the striker has decided to leave Thomas Tuchel’s side in the summer.

Should Aubameyang become available Arsenal would undoubtedly face stiff competition for his signature with both Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly keen on the 27-year-old.

The striker’s preference is believed to be a move to Spain, and the Bernabeu in particular. However, Real Madrid are currently under a transfer embargo, which means they are unable to sign players in the next two transfer windows, unless the embargo is lifted.

While Madrid’s transfer ban is good news for Arsenal, the Borussia Dortmund striker’s impressive strike rate means he is likely to command a hefty transfer fee.

Having already reportedly had an of €60 million rejected, the Gunners will know that they will have to dip deep if they want to land Aubameyang. While the striker’s track record cannot be doubted, whether the club are willing to invest that much in a player who will turn 28 in June remains to be seen.

Arsenal would have to smash their transfer record to land Aubameyang. The Gunners most expensive signing remains Mesut Ozil, who moved from Real Madrid for a reported fee of £42.5m. Ozil arrived at the Emirates to huge excitement, which would surely be replicated if Aubameyang were to follow him to north London.
