Arsenal To Offer Wenger New Two-Year Deal

Arsenal are set to offer manager Arsene Wenger a new two-year deal at the Emirates, in order to deflect interest from the __football Association who want him to become the next England manager, according to The Mirror.

Wenger’s future remains the top of huge speculation with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season. The Gunners’ boss has yet to confirm if he will remain at the Emirates or opt to leave the club after 20 years.

The FA are now searching for a new permanent coach after Sam Allardyce left his role as England boss earlier this week by mutual agreement, after just 67 days in the job. While Gareth Southgate will take charge of the next four Three Lions games, Wenger has reportedly emerged as one of the contenders for the post.

The Arsenal boss was quizzed about the England role following his side’s 2-0 win over FC Basel in the Champions League and insisted his club were his priority. However, Wenger did admit he was undecided whether he would sign a new deal at the Emirates.

Arsenal are set to enter into contract discussions with the 66-year-old during this season and will reportedly offer him a new two-year deal in order to fend off interest from England.

While there seems zero chance Wenger will leave the club during the season, it is clear he is yet to decide his future after the season. The Frenchman has repeatedly hinted his decision will rest on how the team fares this season. On current form, after impressive wins over Chelsea and Basel, he must surely be tempted to stay.
