Arsenal Yet To Open Contract Talks With Key Trio

Arsenal are yet to open talks with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs and Jack Wilshere despite the trio all having entered the final 18 months of their current deals, according to Standard Sport.

The Gunners have recently announced that Laurent Koscielny, Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin have all signed contract extensions while talks are continuing between the club and Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

However, the English trio are yet to start talks over their futures which has reportedly left them concerned over their long-term prospects at Arsenal.

Wilshere is currently on a season-long loan at Bournemouth where he is proving both form and fitness and manager Arsene Wenger has recently stated the club will offer him a new deal.

Wenger has also hinted the club want to extend with Oxlade-Chamberlain although he spoke openly at the beginning of the season about how he would be prepared to leave the club if he continues to struggle for game time.

While Oxlade-Chamberlain is enjoying an improved season, his appearances have come more regularly as a substitute and he rarely completes 90 minutes when he does start.

Gibbs is the third player whose future is unclear, he has made just two Premier League starts this season with Nacho Monreal currently ahead of him.

The full-back is believed to be open to leaving the club and could depart in the summer. Monreal turns 31 in February but signed a new long-term deal this time last year.

Player contracts seem to have dominated the headlines for the last months and the latest report suggesting no new talks are currently planned for the trio will concern fans.
