Arsenal have triggered a contract extension for Per Mertesacker

Arsenal chiefs have taken up the option of a one-year extension to his current deal at the Emirates, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2018. 

“He has an option that we have taken,” said Arsene Wenger. “There was no negotiation, just an option that we have taken.”
