Man City star has aspirations of Arsenal summer transfer

James Milner is set to become one of the most highly coveted players in the Premier League this summer, with the Manchester City midfielder set to become a free agent.

He has been linked with a number of top clubs, but he has already decided he wants to trade the Etihad in for the Emirates, according to .

The 29-year-old has seen his role at City grow this season, but there may still be concerns over playing time. With Manuel Pellegrini’s side struggling this season, there could potentially be an influx of players this summer.

Milner may earn more staying at City, but if he can be guaranteed more first-team football at Arsenal then the move would no doubt prove tempting.

Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the England international, but they too are allegedly going to face being snubbed this summer. He may get more playing time at the Merseyside club, but their form this season suggests he is less likely to get his hands on any more silverware.

Having moved to City from Aston Villa for a reported £26m (via The Sun) back in 2010, getting the industrious utility man on a free would prove excellent business. It’s difficult to see him being anything more than a squad player however, as we already have plenty of quality in his positions.

His high work-rate would provide a more balanced approach if he were to be deployed on the wing, but whether he would be an upgrade on what we have at the moment is questionable.
