Werder Bremen to keep Jannik Vestergaard despite Everton links

Jannik Vestergaard has enjoyed a revival since moving to Werder Bremen in January.

Werder Bremen say they have no plans to sell Jannik Vestergaard despite the player being linked with a move to Everton.

Denmark centre-back Vestergaard, 22, has enjoyed a revival at Bremen since joining the club in January from Hoffenheim, where he had fallen out of favour.

He has featured in all 11 of Bremen's Bundesliga games since arriving at the Weserstadion, scoring one goal, and has reported that Everton have been monitoring him.

Bremen, who are seeking to strengthen their financial position, are reported to have paid around €2.5 million for Vestergaard and could potentially make a significant profit if they were to cash in this summer.

However, Bremen CEO Thomas Eichin told Bild: "Jannik is an interesting player for England, but I am not interested in that. We did not buy him only to immediately sell him again."

Werder Bremen are currently ninth in the Bundesliga.
