Everton's vision will NOT be shattered even if Chelsea sign John Stones and Ross Barkley

The Everton manager is adamant he does not want to lose the likes of John Stones, James McCarthy, Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku, who, aged 24 and under, could form the spine of a team for years to come.

Yet Martinez acknowledged the reality of "modern football" and knows champions-elect Chelsea are monitoring Stones as a long-term replacement for John Terry and have also checked on Barkley, who also interests Manchester City.

Martinez said: "Those four together you can imagine are better players than they were 10 months ago just because of the experiences we have been through.

"I've seen as a manager how they react and face adversity, they became men over six months.

Roberto Martinez insists Everton's future will not be shattered even if their young stars leave

"So I know the benefits are there. But as a football club, from window to window, we need to have a better squad and it's not down to individuals.

"I don't want to sell the dream, 'Oh, we need to keep these players', because that's not modern football.

"If you are going to lose a player as a club you need to become stronger at the end of it by investing the money well and the recruitment needs to be right.

"I feel excited about those players coming through but that doesn't mean we put all the future on those four young players staying at the club."

TEAM NEWS: Mathieu Debuchy DOUBTFUL for Arsenal clash against Hull

The right back, who has recently returned from a dislocated shoulder, was an unused substitute in Arsenal's 0-0 draw with Chelsea last weekend.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger revealed Debuchy suffered a "hamstring problem" in training and Monday night's match (8pm) could be early for the Frenchman.

He said: "Everybody is in good shape, apart from Mathieu Debuchy, who has a little hamstring problem. We don’t know how bad it is.

"Monday could be too early for him. Apart from that everybody should be available [for the Hull game]."

Paco Jemez could bring his Liga touch to Newcastle

Jemez is in the frame at Newcastle

Spanish sources claim the troubled Tyneside club are interested in Jemez, 45, who has led the unfashionable La Liga side to their most successful spell in the top flight.

Derby's Steve McClaren tops the shortlist for long-term successors to Alan Pardew.

John Carver has blown the chances of making his dream job permanent during a wretched interim reign that has brought just two wins from 16 games.

Newcastle are keeping their options open. Securing their top flight status will be crucial in their efforts to attract a high-calibre candidate.

Doubts remains over their ability to add to their modest 35-point tally as they have been dragged into the relegation scrap after an unwanted club record seven Premier League defeats in a row that leaves them five points above the drop zone.

They hope to all-but seal another season of top flight football by stopping the rot with a result at fellow-strugglers Leicester on Saturday, before pressing on with their management recruitment drive.

John Carver could be heading for the exit doors at St James' Park

Las Palmas-born former Spain international Jemez played for Deportivo La Coruna and Real Zaragoza before launching his coaching career eight years ago in the Spanish lower leagues.

He has earned rave reviews after leading Madrid-based Vallecano to eighth in La Liga - their highest-ever placing - on a modest budget.

The fact that he is out of contract in the summer and available to move without the need for compensation also adds to his attraction for potential suitors as he seeks a fresh challenge after three successful seasons with Vallecano, who currently sit mid-table in La Liga.

Sources close to the former centre-back insist he would relish a move to the Premier League.

Former Chelsea chief: Memphis Depay '99.9 per cent certain' to join Liverpool or Man Utd

Arnesen - who also held the sporting director post at Depay's current club PSV - believes interest from Manchester United and Liverpool will conclude with the 21-year-old playing in England next term.

And while the 58-year-old believes it will take time to make the step up after thriving in the Eredivisie, the Dane claims Depay will go on to become a star.

He told Perform: "For me, it's 99.9 per cent [certain that Depay will move to the Premier League]

"Yes, he will [be a success]. I've seen him many times this season and he is going from strength to strength, even though he's only 21 years old.

"It's difficult to stop him. It will, of course, take time because it's totally different than in Eredivisie.

"The level is so much higher here, playing much more games, so he needs to be protected.

Memphis Depay

"Don't expect too much in the beginning but he's definitely the big talent and he'll be good in the Premier League.

"I don't know where he wants to go.

"I've seen a lot of players coming into the Premier League from Holland who didn't achieve because the level is so high in the Premier League but Depay can do very well."

Arsene Wenger: Why I was a FIREBOMB and have had to dominate the devils of youth

The Frechman had three firey seasons at Monaco where he had to channel his aggression and learn how to behave.

Wenger took over from Bruce Rioch at Highbury after 18 months managing Nagoya Grampus Eight in Japan.

And the Frenchman is coming towards the end of his 19th season at the club.

The 65-year-old has won three league titles and five FA Cups at the club and has built it up in his own image.

But Wenger says he has had to develop over time and take himself a step back so he can manage it properly.

“I was an absolute firebomb, I was absolutely mad,” Wenger said.

Arsene Wenger says he was a firebomb

“You learn to express your ideas better with time, to anticipate problems better that you [used to], so you are not so surprised as when you are young.

“You take a bit more distance with what is happening. At a club like Arsenal you could not exactly behave like I behaved at the start.

“I have learnt to dominate my devils. I am not sure I have mellowed in my resolute attitude, but in the way I express my feelings and beliefs, certainly I have changed.”

Wenger’s assistant at Monaco, Jean Petit, says he remains a highly-competitive character.

“He does not like wrong decisions,” Petit said.

“He just does not like losing, but he has calmed down with age.

“At the start of his career in France, when things were not going well he tended to shout and get a bit too angry. But he was always measured.

“When we used to come into the office, we were always looking for things to move football forward. We didn’t do anything crazy.

"That said, we liked to have a laugh and Arsene is a very nice and fun guy.”

Ilkay Gundogan future to be decided soon amid Man United talk - Zorc

Ilkay Gundogan has scored three Bundesliga goals this season.

Borussia Dortmund will make a decision on Ilkay Gundogan's future sooner rather than later, the club's sporting director Michael Zorc has said.

Gundogan will soon enter the final year of his contract, and he has been with a move away from the Westfalenstadion.

Earlier this season, the 24-year-old Germany international returned after a 14-month absence from the game with a career-threatening back injury.

During his injury, Gundogan extended his contract until 2016, but he has since been reluctant to sign a new deal with the club.

Last Friday, reports in Germany and England suggested his future could lie with Manchester United, who were willing to pay €30 million for the midfielder.

However, that, while Gundogan indeed plans to leave Dortmund and could end up at Old Trafford, a deal is not already in place.

But on Saturday, United are on the verge of signing Gundogan.

"There is no signature, there is no offer, no request, and not even any contact," he said on Sky.

"That journalists don't hear from the other party before something is written, that's a bit sketchy, to be honest..."

In an interview with football weekly kicker, Zorc announced on Monday that the Gundogan saga will soon come to an end.

"His contract expires in 2016. There will be a timely decision," he said.

Relive the top five goals from week 30 in the Bundesliga, highlighted by Mario Vrancic's decisive goal.

According to reports in both and kicker, Arsenal also hope to sign Gundogan, who has been offered an annual salary of €6.5 million at Dortmund.

However, kicker added that Dortmund have not received any offers for the Germany international yet.

Zorc also reiterated Dortmund's plan to keep captain Mats Hummels at the club.

When asked whether the centre-back will still be part of the squad following the impending overhaul in the summer, he replied: "To the best of my knowledge, his contract runs through to 2017."

The 26-year-old World Cup winner with Germany has also been with a transfer to Manchester United.

Blog - Transfer Talk Man City to offer £30 million for Jack Wilshere, Bebe's return to England

The ESPN FC team discuss who, if anyone, can challenge Chelsea for the Premier League title next season. Ian Darke believes Arsenal may be best fit to challenge.
Premier League transfer spending set a new 760 million pound record.

Despite to quash any sort of speculation that will be swapping the Emirates for the Etihad this summer, talk of a move will not go away.

The reports that Manchester City are desperate to add more homegrown talent to their squad and are preparing a £30 million bid for the England international.

Wilshere, who still has three years remaining on his Arsenal deal, is just the latest in a long line of Gunners that Man City have approached over the years. If the 23-year-old ends up moving north, it will mean that the Citizens will have spent more than £100 million to bring in the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri and Bacary Sagna from Wenger's stable.

It's not all bad news for Gunners fans, though, with the reporting that Wenger's men are leading the race to sign Barcelona's .

The Spain international has scored 10 goals this season for the Catalan club, despite falling down the pecking order after Luis Suarez's arrival. It's believed that a £24 million bid from Arsenal will be enough to convince Barca to allow the winger to join his former teammate, Alexis Sanchez, in north London, though Manchester United and Inter Milan are both said to be monitoring the situation.

Pedro's arrival could well set off a chain of moves in the transfer window, with Liverpool likely to pounce on should he find his place threatened by the Spaniard.

There was no stopping Pedro on Tuesday night as the Barcelona forward scored a hat trick in the first half against Huesca.
Pedro has a remarkable record at Barcelona, despite not often attracting the plaudits of his fellow players.

Henry: Arsenal need four top-quality signings for title; Ozil must improve

The ESPN FC team discuss who, if anyone, can challenge Chelsea for the Premier League title next season. Ian Darke believes Arsenal may be best fit to challenge.
The ESPN FC crew are joined by Ian Darke who believes Harry Kane had a strong case for PFA Player of the Year, but Eden Hazard deservedly won and remains the most important player for Chelsea along with John Terry.
Chelsea went 10 points clear atop the Premier League table courtesy of a 0-0 draw with London rivals Arsenal.
The ESPN FC team react to Chelsea's goalless draw with Arsenal, where Paul Mariner explains Jose Mourinho's side should've scored a few goals, but failed to convert their chances.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho reacts to Arsenal fans calling Chelsea's style of play 'boring' in classic Mourinho fashion.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says his side did enough to win the game, but didn't make the right decisions in the final third.
ESPN FC's Craig Burley discusses the key match incidents for both Arsenal and Chelsea that led to a scoreless draw at the Emirates.

Thierry Henry believes that Arsenal need to sign four "top-quality" players in order to challenge for the Premier League title, and has criticised Mesut Ozil's performances against the Gunners' rivals.

Arsenal drew with league leaders Chelsea at the Emirates on Sunday, leaving Arsene Wenger's team 10 points behind the Blues with five games to play.

Henry won two titles during an eight-year spell with Arsenal, and says Wenger must follow Jose Mourinho's example by seeking key additions to the "spine" of his team this summer.

"Arsenal need to buy four players, they need that spine," Henry told . "They need a goalkeeper, they still need a centre-back, they still need a holding midfielder and, I'm afraid, they need a top, top-quality striker in order to win this league again.

"The best example for me today was Chelsea. They struggled last year and they were still competing to win the league. They now have [Thibaut] Courtois, [Nemanja] Matic, Cesc [Fabregas] and Diego Costa.

"For me that speaks volumes, and we saw it today. A team didn't and a team did, and Chelsea are about to win the league."

Arsenal passed on the chance to re-sign Fabregas last summer, and the midfielder has been instrumental for Chelsea this term.

David Ospina has displaced Wojciech Szczesny as Arsenal's No.1 this season, but Henry thinks a lack of serious competition for places is costing Wenger's squad.

"He has to [sign players]," he continued. "If you take the goalkeepers, for example, at Bayern Munch, Chelsea, Manchester United and a lot of other teams.

"You need that type of player, you need that competitiveness within the group and you need great players. In order to win the league that has to happen."

Henry scored 174 goals in 254 Premier League games for the Gunners, and says players like Ozil -- who cost Arsenal a club-record £42.5 million -- must step up and make the difference in decisive games such as Sunday's stalemate with Chelsea.

"Players need to perform also," he added. "I will single out Mesut Ozil, who made his eighth appearance against a top-four team today.

"Zero goals, two assists. That is not enough. Since joining Arsenal he has 14 assists. Now if you look at Fabregas at Chelsea, he has 16 assists in one season.

"At one point, I do think, and I do believe, the players have to step up and stand their game up."

Guingamp's Claudio Beauvue wants to play in Premier League next season

Lyon and PSG secured victories this weekend as the Ligue 1 title race goes down to the wire.

Claudio Beauvue looks to be on the move this summer after Guingamp's top scorer for the season announced he is to leave the club.

Beauvue, 27, has recently been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Everton and West Ham interested, according to .

Lukas Podolski to return to Arsenal from Inter in summer - Mancini

ESPN FC's Craig Burley analyses Lukas Podolski's future with Arsenal after Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini confirmed the forward's loan spell would be over at the end of the season.

Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini has confirmed Lukas Podolski's exit in the summer, saying that the Germany international wants to go back to Arsenal.

Podolski, 29, has failed to make an impression for Inter since joining them on loan until the end of the season in January, having still yet to score for the club.

The Serie A side are reluctant to make the move permanent on the terms originally agreed with Arsenal, even though Mancini suggested he would have liked to take a longer look at the forward.

That looks unlikely to happen, however, as Mancini has revealed Podolski has made up his mind and will return to London in July.

"We have this bad habit in Italy of not knowing how to wait for things," at a news conference. "Not everything can happen quickly, particularly when you are moving from one country to another or from one club to another.

"That also applies to Podolski, who I rate as a great player and a great professional. His situation is a bit different because he's on loan and he wants to go back to Arsenal, and that is how it will be."

Podolski has found himself spending a lot of the time on the Inter bench -- much like he was at Arsenal ahead of a move he had hoped would give him more game time.

His disappointment is shared by Mancini when it comes to Inter's season, which the Italian admits has not matched his expectations.

With six games to go, they trail sixth-placed Fiorentina by four points and, with Genoa and Torino also ahead of them, they face an uphill struggle to qualify for the Europa League.

"This week's going to be decisive," Mancini said. "Getting into Europe does not only depend on us because even if we win all of our games and so too do the other sides, nothing changes.

"The overall verdict of the season is still negative. I had thought we might finish in the top three, even if I knew it would be difficult."

Arsenal target Nabil Fekir says he has no plans to depart Lyon

The Lyon head coach admits he's dreaming of the Ligue 1 title after seeing his side go top of the table with just four games remaining.

Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir has told he hopes to remain at the Ligue 1 club this summer, dashing Arsenal's hopes of acquiring the youngster's services.

that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is ready to table a £25 million bid for Fekir, 21, who has burst to prominence this term with 12 goals and nine assists during his side's challenge for the Ligue 1 title.

Although OL need funds, particularly if they do not qualify for next season's Champions League with a top-three finish, president Jean-Michel Aulas has been keen to keep home-grown talent at the club.

Fekir extended his Lyon contract through to 2019 last summer, and has now said he does not want to leave his hometown club anytime soon.

Nabil Fekir had been linked with a move to Arsenal.

"I feel very good here. There is everything in Lyon, my family, my friends," said Fekir, who made his France debut against Brazil last month. "The staff and my teammates have confidence in me. We have a young squad, there's a great atmosphere. That's also what makes us strong right now.

"I want to stay at Lyon to build on my season, while hoping that we qualify for the Champions League. There is everything for me to stay in Lyon, it's the club of my heart. I want to help it go as high as possible.

"I hope I'll be a Lyon player next season. There's no reason I won't be. I'm still a young player, I need to progress in an environment where I feel good. There is everything in Lyon."

Paris Saint-Germain sign Serge Aurier on permanent contract

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore believes his team will be able to secure the Ligue 1 title with four matches remaining.
ESPN FC's Craig Burley and Alexis Nunes discuss Edinson Cavani's value to Manchester United and whether or not the club should break the bank to sign to pry the forward from PSG.
Speaking ahead of PSG's crucial clash with FC Metz on Tuesday, head coach Laurent Blanc has reminded his side to be wary of the threat their opponents may pose.

Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier has signed a permanent deal at the Parc des Princes, the club have announced.

Aurier, 22, has signed a contract committing him to the reigning Ligue 1 champions until 2019.

The defender moved to the French capital from Toulouse in the summer on a loan deal that included an option to buy which has now been taken up. The move has allowed PSG to make a signing without contravening restrictions placed on them by UEFA to failing to comply with financial fair play regulations.

Aurier told the club's : "The project here at Paris Saint-Germain is exceptional. I am enjoying magnificent season, both on an individual and team level. I am very proud that the club is again showing its confidence in me. I will continue to progress to help the team reach the summits of the game, both in France and Europe."

The deal is another high point in a memorable season for the former Lens player, who was a key part of the Ivory Coast side that .

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi added: "Serge Aurier is a young player with enormous potential. Like his young teammates, he represents the future of Paris Saint-Germain. It was logical that we trigger the option to buy. The club's project continues, especially our policy of conserving our best young players. Serge will become an essential element of the team in the future."

Edinson Cavani hands Man United transfer boost, nears PSG exit - report

Laurent Blanc's players were in a positive mood after their 6-1 demolition of Lille took them back to the summit of Ligue 1

Manchester United, Juventus and Atletico Madrid may all have a chance of signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani this summer, according to .

Cavani, 28, took his season's tally to 11 league goals with a brace in PSG's trouncing of Lille on Saturday.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic suspended, it was a rare opportunity for Cavani to play in a central role having been confined to the flanks in Laurent Blanc's preferred 4-3-3 formation for much of the last two seasons.

-- who cost PSG a Ligue 1-record €64 million in 2013  -- with one of his  that the former Napoli forward would be open to a move to England or Spain.

After the last campaign, Cavani made his unhappiness with his tactical position clear via the media, but insisted the problem had been resolved following a discussion with the club's technical staff.

However, with Blanc persisting with his tactics, a member of Cavani's entourage told Le Parisien that the Uruguay international does not want to see out the remainder of the five-year Parc des Princes deal if he is not given a chance to play in what Cavani considers his best position.

Cavani was in fine form on Saturday, netting twice against Lille to keep PSG on course for the Ligue 1 title.

"It is out of the question that Edinson stays for another season at PSG if the sporting situation does not change," the source said. "Edinson has understood that, in the team's interest, he had to play out wide and he has done that for two years now. But that doesn't mean the situation suits him.

"He would like to establish himself in the centre of the attack, his preferred role, and not only when Ibrahimovic is missing. He needs continuity in that position to fully express the qualities that made him the Italian league's leading goal scorer."

Ibrahimovic has a year left on his PSG deal, and given the Sweden captain's importance both on and off the pitch at the club, few see the former AC Milan forward being sold this summer.

That leaves Cavani, who has scored 48 times in 89 games for PSG, with the option of maintaining his current situation or seeking new pastures.

PSG would be unlikely to recoup their entire transfer outlay on Cavani, but Le Parisien claims a bid of €50 million could entice them to part company with the forward.

Blog - Transfer Talk Real Madrid's shock move for John Obi Mikel, Spurs chase Florian Thauvin

John Obi Mikel may not sound like a Galactico-like signing, but could probably do a job for Real Madrid.
Premier League transfer spending set a new 760 million pound record.

was once rated so highly that Chelsea and Manchester United fought a bitter battle over the midfielder's future. Unfortunately for the Blues and Mikel, he never really fulfilled his potential, yet has become a solid squad option for Jose Mourinho.

That dependability is an enticing prospect for other clubs though, with Italian website reporting that none other than Real Madrid are interested in the 28-year-old's services.

It seems an odd move for a side that has built its transfer policy on signing Galacticos, especially given Mikel has made just 12 Premier League appearances this season. But Real have been lacking solidity in the middle after the sale of Xabi Alonso and injuries to key midfielders, and Mikel could offer Carlo Ancelotti a stable presence in front of his centre-backs.

Mauricio Pochettino is planning to rebuild his Tottenham squad this summer, and the reports that Marseille attacker is high on his wish list.

The 22-year-old has impressed in OM's Ligue 1 title challenge this term, and would offer Spurs much-needed options in and around the flanks and front line given their over-reliance on Harry Kane's goals.

Marseille may be tempted to cash in on Thauvin if a suitable offer comes in from White Hart Lane, though Spurs will have to move quickly if they are to avoid a bidding war for the talented player.

has enjoyed a prosperous season on loan at West Ham, but the 27-year-old Barcelona midfielder has admitted his future may lie with a different Premier League side beyond this summer.

The quotes the Camp Nou loanee as saying: "I definitely want to stay here [in England]. I don't know [if I can sign a permanent deal at West Ham]."

That statement could pave the way for either Liverpool or Arsenal -- Song's former club -- to make a move for the defensive midfielder, who can also provide cover at centre-back. For the right price, Song could prove a sound acquisition for either team.

ESPN FC's Alejandro Moreno breaks down Real Madrid's back and forth game at Celta Vigo and credits Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez with inspiring Los Blancos to a 4-2 win.

scored a brace to continue his fine goal-scoring form for Real Madrid, but the reports that Southampton have been handed a boost in their pursuit of a £7.5 million transfer for the Manchester United striker.

Before on Sunday night, the Metro quotes United boss Louis van Gaal as saying: "I gave him a chance and then I said the same thing as I did to Danny Welbeck.

"When you are a substitute it's no good. And I won't change over that. So if you score a goal you are suddenly different? I don't think so."

All signs point to a summer exit from Old Trafford for the Mexico international, though his current displays will surely please Ed Woodward before any potential fee negotiations.

Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers has batted his eyelashes at PSV Eindhoven star , but stopped short of confirming any salacious gossip over a summer transfer.

Asked whether the club are chasing the 21-year-old, the quotes Rodgers as saying: "I can't confirm either way -- you know me, in terms of speculation of players. The kid is a very talented player, of course. But I wouldn't like to confirm either way."

The big tease... still, it's a boost for Anfield fans, as Rodgers seems smitten with the Netherlands international. Now there's just the small task of battling Manchester United and Depay's former national coach Louis van Gaal for the player's signature.

PSV Eindhoven's Memphis Depay notched a stunning free-kick in his side's second-half comeback over Excelsior.

- Arsenal have flirted with a title challenge for the second half of the season, but Thierry Henry has told that his former club need four top-quality players to build the "spine" of a Premier League-winning team.

He said: "They need a goalkeeper, they still need a centre-back, they still need a holding midfielder and, I'm afraid, they need a top, top-quality striker in order to win this league again." It may be another long summer for Gunners fans...

- is set to depart Marseille this summer on a free transfer, and the reports that West Ham will reignite their interest in the 29-year-old having failed to sign the striker in January.

- wonder-goal for Queens Park Rangers at Crystal Palace earlier this season turned plenty of heads, and the reports that West Brom and Southampton will move for the midfielder this summer.

Liverpool boss: Memphis Depay 'very talented,' no UCL affects transfer plans

The ESPN FC team review Liverpool's continued run of poor form, where Steve Nicol is at odds as to how Liverpool have dropped so far since last season.

Brendan Rodgers remained tight-lipped over Liverpool's interest in the "very talented" Memphis Depay but admitted the Reds were set for a summer overhaul that maybe affected by missing out on the Champions League.

Liverpool's draw at West Bromwich Albion put a serious dent in their Champions League challenge and left them seven points adrift of the top four.

as they search for a greater goal threat. Liverpool had scored 90 goals after 33 games last term -- and were top of the Premier League -- but have netted just 47 times this season following the sale of Luis Suarez and Daniel Strurridge's injury-hit campaign.

And -- following their stalemate The Hawthorns -- boss Rodgers refused to be drawn on Depay, who is also , but knows they need a goal scorer.

"You know me in terms of speculation on players," he said. "The kid is a very talented player of course but I wouldn't like to confirm either way.

"It's clear we need a goal threat for next year so there's going to be a whole raft of players who will be looked at and then it'll be up to the club, whether they're affordable and if they are available.

"We have to see the availability first."

Depay followed up an eye-catching World Cup showing with a pivotal role in PSV's title-winning campaign.

But should Liverpool fail to make the top four, Rodgers conceded they could miss out on targets, while also letting some players leave.

He said: "If we're not in the Champions League which is probably highly likely, players will still maybe want to come but they want to play in the Champions League.

"This [is] maybe a season we miss out but if we can regroup again, get some quality starters in for the summer we can go on another great adventure and hopefully get back in there.

"The natural process for some players is they will want to move on anyway and we have had some for a couple of years who maybe haven't played as much."

Real Madrid to decide on Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez in summer

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that he might be inclined to turn Javier Hernandez's loan from Manchester United into a permanent one.

Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez's prospect of a permanent move to Real Madrid will be assessed at the end of the season, coach Carlo Ancelotti has said.

Hernandez, 26, is currently on loan at Madrid from Manchester United until the end of the current campaign, and has featured little through much of the campaign. The striker admitted while on international duty with Mexico in March to having

A recent injury to first-choice centre-forward Karim Benzema, however, has opened up a place in Madrid's starling XI, and Hernandez has grabbed the chance with both hands -- he scored the winning goal in the over Atletico Madrid and a brace in Sunday's at Celta Vigo.

Such performances have led to frenzied speculation over the Mexico international's future, with Marca's cover on Tuesday morning saying Madrid are considering making the deal permanent with the headline: "He has earned it."

'Se lo ha ganado'

that the current loan deal with United contains a clause which means Madrid can buy Hernandez for €20 million if a deal is done before the end of April, although it adds the club "would never even consider" this price. However, a less expensive deal could still be done, the paper suggests.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti speaks ahead of his side's midweek fixture against Almeria and points to the role Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez has played in the team's recent success.

Asked about the speculation at a ahead of Wednesday's La Liga clash with Almeria, Ancelotti said it was too early yet to be making any decision, while praising Hernandez's attitude through the current campaign.

"That is something we will decide at the end of the season," he said. "I have liked his professionalism all through the season, and he has taken advantage of his opportunities. For a coach, it is very positive to have these type of players."

Asked if Hernandez's performances had shown he was wrong to have relied so heavily on the "BBC" strike force of Gareth Bale, Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo earlier in the season, Ancelotti said he was not going to waste any time thinking back over past decisions.

"I have made many mistakes, but I can only choose 11 players," he said. "I cannot think about that. I have to judge the moment of each player. He has helped the team and I hope it continues like this."

Man United lining up Hugo Lloris if David De Gea signs for Real - sources

ESPN FC's Paul Mariner discusses Hugo Lloris' future at White Hart Lane and believes the goalkeeper deserves to be competing for silverware in European competitions.

Hugo Lloris is on "stand-by" with Manchester United, if David De Gea does indeed go to Real Madrid this summer, sources have told ESPN FC.

The Tottenham Hotspur No. 1 is now 28 and at the point where he wants regular Champions League football, and there has been an initial contact with United.

Lloris is open to the move, having told Spurs his situation, and awaiting developments in the De Gea situation.

United want to keep De Gea -- and remain hopeful of doing so -- but the fact that he has has naturally led to contingency plans and an exploration of how to best handle the situation.

The Old Trafford club have a long-standing interest in Gareth Bale -- both for his quality and what he represents as a star signing -- and know that, if it does get to the point where De Gea's move to Real Madrid is not preventable, they can leverage the situation to try and get the Wales forward.

Sources have told ESPN FC that is one reason why the is not as advanced as it should be, because Bale remains an option and there is now a chance they might get him, considering the of the former Tottenham player at Real.

in Depay, however, may force United to move for the younger Dutch player.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says the club have made a huge contract offer to goalkeeper David de Gea, but the final decision is the Spain international's alone.

United are looking to bring in five signings this summer, with manager Louis van Gaal insistent they be done as early as possible to allow the kind of tactical preparation time with a full squad that was denied to him last summer.

United confident they can complete deals with both and .

Depay and Bale are then options on the wing, and the club will wait to see what happens with their strikers.

If De Gea goes, it could mean a sixth signing, which will likely be Lloris.

John Terry: This is why Chelsea hero Eden Hazard beat Man Utd and Arsenal stars to award

The Belgium international saw off competition from the likes of Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez and Manchester United's David De Gea as he took home the prestigious individual trophy following an 18-goal season under Jose Mourinho.

Hazard will again be Chelsea's main man this evening as the title hopefuls take on Leicester, and Terry has explained how the former Lille star's attributes have put him in a class of his own this season.

He is an exciting player and for us at the back, you give him the ball and you can relax for a bit

John Terry

He told the club's website: "To maintain consistency first and foremost is to remain fit and he has had a couple of tackles this year where you are concerned, but he bounces back and he has everything – a great burst of pace, agility, he scores goals including a couple of headers and his tracking back has been superb.

"He gets his body in front of the ball and glides past people and has that burst of pace to then get away. He is an exciting player and for us at the back, you give him the ball and you can relax for a bit. Hopefully we can win the league so he can add that to the award too."
