Wolfsburg have opened contract negotiations with Ivan Perisic, sporting executive Klaus Allofs has told .
Perisic, 26, joined the club from Borussia Dortmund in January 2013 for a reported fee of €8 million, helping them to qualify for the Europa League last season after only missing out on Champions League football by one point.
The Croatia international fractured his shoulder last summer, before returning in September, while further injury problems have limited him to just 23 appearances this term.
Despite his struggles, however, the midfielder has reportedly attracted the attention of several clubs, -- Wolfsburg's opponents in the Europa League quarterfinals.
In an attempt to scare off potential buyers, Wolfsburg have now entered into talks over a new contract with Perisic, whose current deal is due to expire in 2017.
"We have talked and made it clear that we would like to prolong [his contract]," Allofs said. "Ivan has developed well. We don't want to sell him."
