Javier Pastore has told that contract extension talks with Paris Saint-Germain have broken off, while revealing Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti could push to sign him.
After a slow start to his PSG career, Pastore, 25, has played a major role in the club's successes of recent months, and has been one of the most used members of Laurent Blanc's squad this season.
The Argentina international has only one year left on the five-year deal he signed when he moved from Palermo in 2011, but revealed negotiations regarding a new contract have come to a halt and may not be pursued.
"The talks have been stopped. We're not talking about extending my contract any more. I'm calm. I have a year left on my contract, and I'm going to keep my word and respect my contract. I don't know if the talks will start again," Pastore said.
"I'm calm. I have to finish this season in the best of ways -- try to win as many trophies as possible with PSG. I still have a year left on my contract after that. I haven't thought about leaving or staying, I live in the present."
Failure to resurrect the talks and see them through to a new contract extension would likely result in PSG deciding to sell the attacking midfielder, who was the club's Qatari owners' first marquee signing at a reported €42 million.
Ancelotti is an admirer of Pastore's talents and had the player in his PSG squad during an 18-month tenure at the Parc des Princes.
Pastore brushed off media speculation that he will move to Madrid and denied speaking to either Ancelotti or Argentina teammate and former player Angel Di Maria about life in the Spanish capital.
However, he did say that Ancelotti may try to convince the European champions to attempt to lure him to the Santiago Bernabeu.
"He's a coach who also wanted me when he was at Chelsea. He's one of the European coaches who has followed me since I was young," he said. "Is he pushing to get me? Perhaps, because he knows me. Perhaps, because he also wanted me in the past. But he hasn't told me personally."
