Arsenal fans resort to one of football's oldest cliches as they try and make sense of Middlesbrough draw

As __football fans, sometimes we just want to reach for the nearest comforting cliche in times of strife.

Any performance can be explained away with a shrug of the shoulders and the repeat of a familiar phrase, and so it proved for Arsenal fans after their team's disappointing goalless draw at home to Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners created several chances, but ultimately they also had Petr Cech to thank for a point after he made a couple of great saves.

What type of day was it, Gooners?

And in the absence of any goals to wax lyrical over, Arsenal fans were left repeating one familiar phrase:

Gunners it's one of those days of that Mourinho like bus parked @TheEmirates #COYG pic.twitter.com/1ZVAR2Ls2x

One of those days. Negatively, two points dropped. Positively, top of the table. Champions league seems to have affected us.

One of those days. Well as Arsene says, "if you can't win, don't lose" and we could have. We move on.

You lot are overreacting. You can't win every game you know. Yes we were dominant but it was just one of those days

Just didn't click today. It happens. Just one of those days still happy where we're at.

We really should be beating these smaller teams especially at home. Oh well, its just one of those days. On to the next game. #COYG

One of those days.
You win some
You draw some
You loose some
Still proud to be a gunner.#Arsenal

Threw everything at them at the end, but it was one of those days where maybe our first half performance has come back to haunt us.

There's that frustrating #Arsenal I know all too well. One of those days.

— Drew (@MFDrew) October 22, 2016

One of those days. Games we should be winning. Stupid game.
