A host of clubs including Arsenal and Barcelona are on alert after in-demand Paris Saint-German midfielder Marco Verratti was involved in an angry exchange with his manager Unai Emery.
The Italy star was substituted after 59 minutes of goalless draw against Marseille in Ligue 1 on Sunday and did not react well to being withdrawn.
The 23-year-old confronted Emery on the touchline, angrily asking the coach: “What is this? Am I bad? Did I say something bad?”, as you can see in the video above.
Following the game, Emery said: “It’s normal that the players get angry. They want to play and are frustrated with the score.
"But it’s my decision and I do what I think is best for the team. It’s character and it’s good.”
Verratti signed a new contract at the Parc des Princes in August, but that has not quashed rumours about his long-term future at the French champions, with his agent admitting that his client is unlikely to see out his current deal.
Arsenal are one of several clubs to be linked with a move for the Italian international, with reports suggesting that the Gunners see him as a potential replacement for Santi Cazorla, whose contract at the Emirates is due to expire at the end of the current campaign.
