Arsenal transfer news and rumours: Gunners knocked back in bid for AC Milan starlet?

Arsenal were knocked back in a bid to sign AC Milan wonderkid Manuel Locatelli in the summer, according to reports in Italy.

The 18-year-old was watched several times by Gunners chief scout Neil Banfield who liked what he saw, but according to Calciomercato, an offer from the Premier League side was rejected by the Rossoneri.

The deep-lying midfielder has drawn comparisons to Andrea Pirlo and scored for the Italian giants in their 4-3 win over Sassuolo earlier this month.

But Arsenal's hopes of landing the teenager have now taken a dent after Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani recently confirmed that the midfielder has signed a new contract that runs until 2020 at the San Siro.
