Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored twice to fire Arsenal into the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.
England winger Oxlade-Chamberlain struck once in each half to help the Gunners ease past Championship Reading.
He pounced on a mistake from the Reading defence for his first in the 33rd minute.
And he wrapped up the win with 13 minutes left with a deflected drive after good work from substitute Olivier Giroud.
Here are five things we learned from the Emirates...
1. A return for Jenkinson
A memorable night for one Carl Jenkinson, as he made his Arsenal comeback, two and a half years after his last appearance for the club.
His previous Arsenal game was the 2-0 win at Norwich on the final day of the 2013-14 season, in which he scored a rare goal.
Since then he had one very successful year on loan at West Ham and a less fruitful spell last season which ended prematurely when he suffered a serious knee injury.
The question now is can he rival Hector Bellerin for a spot in the Premier League XI?
2. Oxlade-Chamberlain has the taste for goals
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is all set for his best scoring season for Arsenal.
His goals against Reading were his fourth and fifth of the campaign so far, already beating his best ever tally for the Gunners. He scored four in the 2011/12 season.
Arsene Wenger declared this is “an important season” for Oxlade-Chamberlain before the big kick off. And based on his goals return he has responded like he realises that is the case.
3. Remember the 7-5? Not many of these did either
Survivors from the 7-5 thriller four years ago were in short supply.
Carl Jenkinson was one of just three survivors from one of the greatest games this competition has ever seen, when the Gunners claimed an extra-time win.
Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez also played that night at the Madejski Stadium along with Reading winger Garath McCleary.
4. Reading are sick of Arsenal
Reading no doubt remain sick of the sight of Arsenal.
Last night was the 14th meeting between the two clubs and it went the same way as each of the previous 13 as Reading are still waiting for their first win against the north Londoners.
In fact, they still haven't even managed a draw against the Gunners who have beaten Reading six times in the league and four times in both the FA and League Cups.
5. Stam's record vs Wenger
This was a game that highlighted Arsene Wenger's incredible longevity as Arsenal manager.
Last night he came up against a man who also played against the Frenchman's sides.
Stam was part of the Manchester United team who had some mouthwatering clashes against Wenger's men in the late 1990's and early 2000s.
He had a record of three wins, three draws and three defeats from nine games as a player against Wenger.
The managerial rivalry began with a defeat for the Dutchman.
