The Nuri Sahin saga has been ongoing for some time now, with Arsene Wenger looking at bringing him in on loan for the season with an option to buy next summer. But reports have been heating up that there has been a ‘snag’ in the negotiations in regards to the proposed £14m option to buy clause with Liverpool poised to intervene.
But one situation that all Gooners would love to come true would be sale of Arshavin for £10m, Wenger takes with money from the sale and wins big on the footballing slots at www.ladbrokes.com, then buys the Spaniard Jesus Navas!
Firstly onto Sahin, the Spanish press believe Liverpool are in poll position for the signature of the talented deep-lying playmaker/defensive midfielder. With Alex Song off the books at Arsenal, many expected Sahin to be a Gunner right now as Arsene Wenger searches for replacement in midfield.
But now the Gunners may miss out on the ex-Borussia Dortmund star with Madrid manager Mourinho keen on securing the midfielder a loan solution only, and the Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers has now confirmed they are closing in on the Turkey international.
Speaking after his sides Europa league victory, he said:
Hopefully in the next 24 hours we’ll get some confirmation on that [Sahin]. It’s quite far [along the line]. He’s a very good footballer.
Personally I don’t see Sahin as a big loss as I would prefer M’Vila to come in permanently, hopefully Wenger can pull through for us on that one.
Now onto Andrei Arshavin, who actually featured at the weekend against Sunderland, could finally be leaving the Emirates as Wenger looks to offload some aging fringe players before the window slams shut on September 1st.
Reliable source ESPNSoccernet believes Zenit St Petersburg are lining up a £10m move for their former talisman after a successful loan spell in the second half of last season.
The Russian club were thought to only want the 31-year-old back on a temporary basis once again, but with Wenger keen to offload the winger, a permanent move looks like it will be back on the cards. Arshavin was apparently in Zenit last weekend on a ‘business’ trip, but as he owns a fashion line in Russia that could have been the cause for the excursion.
Jesus Navas! That is one name that many Gooners would love to have on their Arsenal shirt this season. The Daily Mail are reporting that the Sevilla winger is being targeted by the Gunners as a potential replacement for ‘contract rebel’ Theo Walcott, however if Arshavin departs perhaps the Spaniard could be his replacement.
The 26-year-old Spanish international has a £35million buy-out clause but Sevilla are reportedly ready to accept something in the region of half that amount. He is a massive talent, someone that has a wealth of experience including 21 caps in the all conquering Spanish national team. If Arsenal can manage to bring him in that would be a huge boost towards winning some silverware.
It would be a dream come true, and Navas could bolster the wide options significantly, but I fail to see Wenger and the Arsenal board splashing out on the highly rated winger right now. If Arshavin is sold for a high price of £10, then Bendtner for around £5-8, that will supply the cash for the talented Spaniard, maybe even throw in Squillaci for kicks!
What are your thoughts? Are you excited by the rumours surrounding Navas? He could be Arsenal’s David Silva.. Feel free to comment below or in allArsenal’s forum in Navas’ thread.
