Arsenal And Everton Battle It Out For Young Left Back

Arsenal face tough competition from Everton in their quest to sign left back Josh Tymon. The Hull defender is yet to feature in the Premier League but appeared for the first team in the EFL Cup in midweek (via The Mirror).

Well he isn’t exactly a household name yet but with reports that he could feature for Hull in their Premier League match against Watford on Saturday, he might soon be. Josh Tymon earned rave reviews for his performance against Bristol City in the EFL Cup in midweek and now seems to be attracting the attention of the Premier League’s top sides.

Arsenal sent scouts to watch the youngster in midweek but The Gunners face a challenge from Everton for Tymon’s signature. The Mirror reports that both clubs are planning to make a move for the 17-year-old in the January window.

The Gunners’ chances of signing the player are boosted by the fact that he hasn’t actually signed a professional contract with his club yet. That means that any payment for the player will be a compensation agreement rather than a transfer fee.

Arsenal already have Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs in the position but at 30 and 27 years old respectively, Tymon is a lot younger. The Hull full-back would potentially join youngsters Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding, making up an impressive young defensive unit.
