Ivan Gazidis drops biggest hint yet that Arsene Wenger may not be Arsenal's manager next season

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has given the first hint that the club could be planning for life after Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman’s contract expires at the end of the season and Wenger, who celebrated his 20th anniversary this month, has made it clear that he will not be rushed into deciding his future.

But Gazidis said: “Arsenal is not Arsene Wenger. They're not one in the same thing.”

The Gunners are unbeaten since the opening day of the season with seven wins from their nine subsequent games. They currently sit third in the table, two points off leaders Manchester City.

Gazidis insisted the north Londoners remain relaxed about Wenger’s future and are in no hurry.

He added: "He's been clear and we've always been clear, that's a mutual decision as to how long he'll continue.

"Both need to be on the same page on that. In a __football sense, he has transformed the club.”

Wenger has been linked with the England job after Sam Allardyce was axed last month.
