Major Injury Boost For Arsenal As Midfielder And Striker Return To Training

Arsenal have received a double fitness boost in the form of Lucas Perez and Francis Coquelin as the Premier League action returns this weekend. The players have returned to full training and are expected to be available for Saturday’s clash against Swansea City according to reports.

Coquelin suffered a knee injury in the 3-0 win against Chelsea last month and was expected to be out for several months. However, according to Goal recent scans illustrates a quick recovery and the defensive midfielder will be available to feature in the upcoming match.

With Granit Xhaka moulding well into his role alongside Santi Cazorla, the Frenchman might not get a starting role against Swansea but Wenger will have the option to play him as a substitute.

Similarly, Lucas Perez who sustained a knee injury during training and missed out on Arsenal’s match against Burnley has also recovered and joined the squad at the London Colney training ground.

The striker faces competition from the in-form Alexis Sanchez who has finally adapted into his centre forward role scoring a total of four goals in just seven appearances in the league.

Perez last appeared for the Gunners in the EFL Cup tie against Nottingham Forest which the North London side won 4-0 thanks to two goals by the Spaniard and a goal by Xhaka and Oxlade-Chamberlain each.

It is hoped Wenger finally gives the forward a chance to prove his worth in the top flight tournaments easing the load off of Sanchez.

Lastly, Hector Bellerin who encountered an injury scare during Spain’s 3-0 win over San Marino is expected to feature for his country’s Under-21 side against Estonia today.

The international break is often worrisome for Gunners due to likely injuries the squad encounters but so far it has only been good news in terms of fitness regime of the team.
