Arsenal injury boost: Star man spotted in training after five-month lay-off Mertesacker, Giroud and Bellerin return to Arsenal training

PER MERTESACKER is back in training with Arsenal after a five-month lay-off.

Mertesacker is yet to make a single appearance for Arsenal this campaign after picking up a knee injury in pre-season.

The 32-year-old has been ruled out since July but was today picture in training at the Gunners' base at London Colney.

The centre-back was snapped being put through his paces by assistant fitness coach Craig Grant having previously been doing much of his rehabilitation in Germany.

Mertesacker now faces the tough task of reinstating himself in the Arsenal first-team following such a long lay-off.
