Giroud Has No Intention Of Leaving Arsenal In January, Says Agent

Olivier Giroud has no intention of leaving Arsenal when the transfer window reopens and is happy at the club, according to his agent Michael Manuello.

The France international has endured a difficult season after returning to action late after an extended break from Euro 2016.

His season was then disrupted by injury while Arsene Wenger’s decision to move Alexis Sanchez to a central role has also seen his game time reduced.

While Giroud had insisted he is happy at the club there has been speculation over his future with the France international having to settle for a bench role in recent weeks.

Wenger has revealed that the striker is “angry but in a positive way” about his current situation with Giroud, again a substitute on Tuesday night at Basel with Lucas Perez starting and scoring a hat-trick.

Giroud faces further competition for his place with Danny Welbeck closing in on a return to action after returning to training but his agent says he is going nowhere.

“Olivier is very happy at Arsenal,” Manuello told Foot Mercato. “He’s going to finish his season here. Nothing is possible in January for Olivier. He has no intention of leaving this winter.”

While Giroud may be frustrated with his lack of game time, his contributions in recent weeks have been crucial with the France international scoring against Manchester United, Tottenham and the Champions League clashes with PSG and Ludogorets.
