Wilshere Fears For Arsenal Future With Man City Keen

Manchester City are reportedly monitoring Jack Wilshere’s contract situation at Arsenal with the midfielder yet to be offered a new deal by the Gunners, according to the Daily Mail.

The England international is one of several players in Arsene Wenger’s squad about to enter the final 18 months of his current contract but is reportedly concerned negotiations are yet to commence.

The club are currently in talks with Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Francis Coquelin and Olivier Giroud over new deals but have not contacted Wilshere yet about his contract.

Wilshere is enjoying a successful spell on loan at Bournemouth where he is finally proving his match fitness after an awful injury-ravaged spell.

However, the report claims he is concerned about his future in north London, as the lack of contract talks suggest his new deal is not a priority for the club.

Should he fail to sign a new deal before the end of the season the Mail claims he will be sold, so as to avoid the possibility of him walking away from the club he joined at the age of nine for free the following summer.

Pep Guardiola’s side are believed to be monitoring his situation while Italian clubs Roma and AC Milan were both interested in signing him last summer before he moved to Bournemouth.

Wilshere will turn 25 on New Year’s Day and while Arsenal will surely have been boosted by his performances for Eddie Howe’s side this season he has also spoken of his delight at playing regular football.

Whether Wilshere could command a regular place at Arsenal next season is debatable and it’s also somewhat surprising that the Gunners have allowed so many of their players to approach the end of their current deals without renewing earlier.

Wenger has previously stated he wants Wilshere to stay and it seems the club may now need to prove they want to keep him at the club.
