Arsenal star: Why you can’t say this about the Gunners despite Everton defeat Arsenal player ratings against Everton

PETR CECH is adamant Arsenal aren’t the club of old following their defeat against Everton.

Previously, Arsenal lacked a certain mental toughness which held them back in the big games.

The Gunners slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park last night - only their second Premier League defeat of the campaign.

Their failure to defend a set-piece and a cross from open play proved to be their undoing.

Although Arsene Wenger’s men missed an opportunity to overtake Chelsea as league leaders, Cech objects to the idea that the north London side get ‘bullied’ by other teams.

When asked for his thoughts on the matter, Cech said: “No. But we played well with the ball and we didn’t give them chances.

“Second half, obviously with the goal they came back into the game and in the Premier League it’s very difficult.

“You can’t control games for 90 minutes, there will be moments where the opponents will show their quality.

Arsene Wenger saw his side miss the chance to go top of the table

“Today, although they were not dangerous for most of the game, they found two goals and in the end you go home with a defeat.

“But you have to pick yourself up. There is a big period coming up now with the games coming thick and fast and there is no time to dwell on the defeat.

“You have to move on and get ready for the next one.”

Arsene Wenger will be hoping his side bounce back when they face Manchester City on Sunday (4pm).
