Walcott Is The Fastest Player I’ve Faced, Says Willian

Chelsea star Willian has revealed the fastest player he has ever faced is Arsenal’s Theo Walcott.

Hector Bellerin is widely believed to be the quickest player at the Emirates after beating Walcott’s sprint record although there seems to be little to chose between the pair.

However, Willian, himself no slouch in the speed stakes, has insisted the England international is the man he struggles to keep up with.

“The fastest player I’ve faced is Theo Walcott at Arsenal,” Willian said via The Metro.

“Eden Hazard is probably the fastest player at Chelsea. In England it’s rare to find a slow winger.

“If you are slow, you’ll be better off as a midfielder – maybe a No.10. You need pace to be a modern winger.”

Walcottt is certainly enjoying a superb season with the Gunners and is the club’s second top scorer behind Alexis Sanchez, with nine goals already.

The 27-year-old has already admitted he is targeting reaching double figures before Christmas and certainly looks to be on track to beat that mark.

Walcott had to settle for a place on the bench in midweek in the 4-1 win over FC Basel, coming on as a late substitute for Mesut Ozil.

He will be hoping to return to the starting line-up at the weekend as the Gunners welcome Stoke City to the Emirates in the Premier League.
