Chelsea will make a move for Alexis Sanchez, should he fail to agree a new deal with Arsenal, and want to partner him up front with Diego Costa, according to The Mirror.
Sanchez’s future has become the topic of huge speculation following reports he has been offered £400,000-per-week to leave Arsenal and move to the Chinese Super League.
The Chile international has also been linked with both Manchester City and Juventus and Chelsea have now become the latest club to be rumoured to be interested in his services.
The report claims Antonio Conte’s side are big fans of the Arsenal ace and will register their interest if the forward reveals he will not sign a contract extension at the Emirates.
The Blues are keen to partner Sanchez with Diego Costa and create what would potentially be one of the most devastating front lines in Europe.
Sanchez has a little over 18 months to run on his current deal which expires in 2018 and the growing fear is he could use the huge offers from China as a bargaining tool.
Mesut Ozil’s contract also expires in 2018 and other reports have claimed that while the club are willing to afford to pay one of their stars a huge salary of £288,000-per-week they will be unable to do it for both, and neither star is willing to earn less than the other.
Arsenal are reportedly already on the hunt for potential replacements for their top scorer Sanchez, and are believed to have identified Marco Reus as potential candidate having been impressed with the Germany international.
Speculation over both players’ futures seems inevitable given their current form and contract status and Arsenal fans will be hoping they can both be persuaded to remain in north London and put pen to paper as soon as possible.
