Arsenal Explain Striker’s Absence

Arsenal have confirmed via Twitter that Lucas Perez has picked up a knee injury. It was a surprise to see the striker’s name absent from the team sheet but it seems that the player received the injury in training during the week.

Arsenal announced their team sheet for the trip to Burnley this afternoon and while there were no surprises in the starting IX, there was one on the bench.

Arsene Wenger had just one striker in reserve with the injuries to Olivier Giroud and Chuba Akpom, but now it seems Lucas Perez has picked up a knock too.

The Spaniard has started just one Premier League match since his move to the Emirates in the summer but has made a number of substitute appearances so it was a surprise to see his name absent from the team sheet.

The club took to Twitter to explain the number 9’s absence. Lucas has a slight knee injury and will miss out today but with the upcoming international break it can be assumed that the striker will be back for Arsenal’s next match in two weeks.
