Wojciech Szczesny has been ruled out of Poland’s Euro 2016 clash with Germany, after the 26-year-old picked up an injury during their 1-0 win over Northern Ireland, as reported by Sky Sports.

Szczesny was solid against Northern Ireland, despite having very little to do for most of the game. He was involved in a collision that clearly left him a little worse for wear though, with the report suggesting he’s picked up a thigh injury that will rule him out for at least the next game against Germany.
Poland coach Adam Nawalka admitted that the keeper had no chance whatsoever of being fit for the next game, but is yet to reveal who will replace him; ex-Arsenal star Lukasz Fabianski or Bournemouth shot-stopper Artur Boruc.
“There is no chance for Szczesny to play tomorrow, the team doctor has made the decision,” said Nawalka.
“Tomorrow I will announce who will play in goal.”
While it’s obviously a shame that Szczesny has picked up an injury during such a massive tournament, but from an Arsenal stand point it’s unlikely to impact us hugely.
The Pole spent the whole of last season on loan with Serie A side Roma, and looks likely to spend another year away from the Emirates. With Petr Cech still unquestionably first choice, there’s little chance that Szczesny could come back and get the regular first team __football he wants and needs, so if he were to spend next season in north London it would be a huge surprise.

Hopefully he recovers in time to play a further part in the Euros, and is able to secure another loan spell at a decent club next season too.
