Bundesliga side preparing for life without £25m Arsenal target

Borussia Dortmund are apparently resigned to losing Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer, and are looking at bringing in a replacement for the outbound Armenian international, as reported by German publication Ruhr Nachrichten.

We’ve been regularly linked with a £25m move for the 27-year-old (via The Independent), and reports suggested we were close to agreeing a deal ahead of the Euro 2016 Championships.

As The Independent states, he’s entering the last year of his contract so Dortmund need to cash in now or risk losing him for free. He’s refused to sign an extension, essentially forcing the German giants into selling.

Dortmund have signed a number of players already this summer, and are apparently still looking to make more acquisitions. Dortmund insist they don’t want to sell Mkhitaryan, but the German press aren’t so sure.

Mkhitaryan contributed a huge amount with both goals and assists last season, with his numbers arguably the best in Europe. The sheer number of goals he was involved in was phenomenal, and if he can come even close to replicating that form he’d be an amazing signing. We’re yet to hear anything really concrete as far as this one is confirmed, but we’d love it to be true and to see him in red and white next season.
