“Ozil Is So Overrated” Claims Former Chelsea Man

Arsenal has once again come under scrutiny after a goalless draw against Middlesbrough at the Emirates, and this time the target is Mesut Ozil.

The in-form midfielder who scored a hat-trick in midweek against Ludogorets Razgrad in the Champions League has now received fresh criticism over his performance against Boro. The failure to score was in fact due to an average performance from the entire Arsenal attack but it hardly calls for a harsh criticism against Ozil.

Unfortunately, Chelsea’s former defender Jason Cundy believes so. In a tweet post Arsenal’s 0-0 draw against Middlesbrough, Cundy claimed the German to be “overrated” and compared him to Cesc Fabregas.

REALLY!! 😂
Mourinho had the chance to sign him at CFC but signed Fabregas a year later instead & he won the title!!
Ozil is so over rated!! https://t.co/dshpPblyOC

One, the season hasn’t ended yet, and a draw against Middlesbrough is hardly a season defining result for Arsenal. Two, Ozil’s performances this season clearly overshadows that of the Spaniard.

According to Squawka, the German’s passing accuracy stands at 88% with 384 successful passes in the eight league games played this season. Fabregas on the other hand has played in only four games with 79 passes completed and an accuracy of 82%.

If this doesn’t ridicule Cundy’s claim enough, Arsenal’s midfielder has managed 7 shots on goal this season and scored a total of six goals in all competitions for the Gunners. Cesc on the other hand has zero shots on goal in the Premier League so far and has only managed to score two goals in the EFL Cup for the Blues.

So before criticising “Assist King”, Cundy should hit out at Fabregas’ lack of goals this season and worry that his former club is 5th in the league while Arsenal are leading the race currently sitting top of the table despite a goalless draw at home.
