£23.8m Arsenal & Man United target must decide ‘this week’ on transfer

Borussia Dortmund have apparently grown tired of the long, drawn out saga that is Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s potential summer transfer, and have given the Armenian until the end of the week to decide on his future, according to Bild (via the Express).

We’ve been heavily linked with the in-form 27-year-old recently, and as the report suggests he’s entering the final year of his contract. Dortmund need to cash in now or risk losing him for free next summer, with the prolific midfielder apparently having no intention of signing a new deal.

We’re not the only ones chasing his signature though, with the Express claiming both Manchester United and Chelsea are also monitoring his situation. Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has apparently given the player a transfer deadline of this week, so we could get some concrete transfer news during the Euro 2016 Championships.

“We will make a decision this week,” Zorc is quoted as saying.

The fact that Mkhitaryan only has a year left on his current deal means that not only are Dortmund essentially being forced into selling, but also that we can get the Bundesliga star for a cut-price. A player with 20 goals and 18 assists in the league alone would normally come with a hefty price tag, but it seems that he could be ours for just £23.8m (via the Express).

It would be a fantastic bit of business if Arsene Wenger were to be able to get this one over the line, especially if he managed it in the next week or two. With the deal to bring Granit Xhaka to Arsenal done nice and early there is a quiet sense of confidence about this transfer window, and another marquee signing would only serve to increase that feeling.

This summer and the season that succeeds it could be hugely important for both Wenger and Arsenal, so we need to make sure things are done right.
