Santi Cazorla believes Arsene Wenger will continue his reign at the club and will be in charge next season at the very least.
Speaking to the Spanish media, the midfielder revealed that the Boss hasn’t hinted he will leave the club at the end of the season despite the lack of talks on contract extension.
“The truth is we do not have that feeling in the dressing room”, Cazorla told Spanish broadcaster Cope on This Is __football podcast.
“The boss has not indicated that this will be his last year. Not at all. He is fully focused on this season and I do not know what he is planning for the future.
“Today I do not rule him continuing another season because he has not said he will leave.
“It is in his hands and he is the one who has to make the decision but today I would say that he may continue.”
The Spaniard hailed Wenger’s long tenure with the Gunners as the manager marked his 20th year anniversary at Arsenal last week with a late 1-0 victory over Burnley.
“Arsene is an icon at the club”, he added.
“He has spent 20 years here and every bit of praise to him would not be enough.”
The Frenchman has been strongly linked with taking over England’s national team after the dismissal of Sam Allardyce. However, former Arsenal legend Robert Pires believes Wenger is going to stay at the club for more than 20 years while it is also speculated that Arsene will leave once he has won his fourth Premier League with the club.
Arsenal have made a strong start to the season with an unbeaten run stretching to six games in the league. They currently stand third, two points behind Manchester City who currently lead the table with 18 points.
