Walcott: Arsenal Have Finally Sorted Out Our Defence

Theo Walcott was full of praise for the Arsenal defence after the Gunners smashed Ludogorets 6-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The England international was on target, along with Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mesut Ozil as the Gunners cruised to the three points at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger’s side have now kept five clean sheets in their last six games and Walcott has been impressed with the way his side have improved defensively.

“Our first goal is always to keep a clean sheet. We know how good we are now going forward,” he said via the >Evening Standard.

“It’s about sorting ourselves out at the back and we’ve done that this season.

“It was far from easy – we can be proud of that and look forward to the weekend now.

“We always want to take our chances. Today we took pretty much all of them.”

The result leaves Arsenal top of Group A, although PSG are level on points after victory over Basel who sit tied with Ludogorets at the bottom with a point each.

Centre-backs Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi picked up another clean sheet with the duo’s partnership showing real promise at the back for the Gunners.

Arsenal will be hopeful of another win against Ludogorets when they travel to Bulgaria for the return fixture next month, victory which will all but confirm their place in the knockout stages.

Before that Wenger’s men return to Premier League action with struggling Middlesbrough the visitors on Saturday with current form pointing to yet another clean sheet and all three points.
