No real surprises from the manager today as he picks a strong and stable side for the away game gainst the Magpies. Arsene Wenger had spoken at length about the possibility of resting multiple players following the all out effort at Monaco, but ultimately has chosen to rest only Ozil.
Ospina starts between the sticks, no surprises there. In defence, Gabriel comes into the side in place of the misfiring Mertesacker. Monreal is handed another start and Calum Chambers is also brought in at the expense of Bellerin. The midfield picks itself, with Coquelin, Cazorla and Ramsey getting the nod to start, a no-brainer considering the recent form the trio have shown,
Up front, Giroud starts against his favorite opposition, and will be looking to add to his tally against Newcastle. He is joined by Sanchez and Welbeck. Despite discussing the possibility of resting Sanchez, it looks like the manager prefers him ahead of Walcott. Welbeck never fails to impress with his workrate, and I suspect that a major part of his job today will be to create space for Olivier Giroud.
The bench has the likes of Rosicky and Walcott for late firepower, with Ozil unable to make the cut due to illness.
