Manchester United have taken non-league sensation Sam Grimshaw on trial, sources have told ESPN FC.
Grimshaw, who was on the books at Manchester City for nine years as a junior, has impressed for North West Counties League side Glossop North End this season.
The 21-year-old, who can play at left-back or as a left-sided winger, has caught the attention of a host of clubs higher up the football pyramid.
A number of sides have asked to take Grimshaw on trial so that they can have a look at him at close quarters, but United have now expressed an interest in the player.
Grimshaw, who can run 100m in under 11 seconds, is set to spend this week training at United. If he impresses the coaching staff, he could be offered a permanent deal with the Premier League giants.
The Old Trafford club are looking to bolster their youth ranks and are scouring non-league football for promising talent, having signed earlier this year and taken last month.
