Arsenal set to open talks with Serie A side over top striker during international break

Sky Sports Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has once again linked us with a move for Palermo striker Paulo Dybala, and claims that we are set for talks with the Serie A club in the coming days.

The Argentine star has been in fine goalscoring form, netting 12 goals in 27 appearances. Palermo are not a particularly high-scoring team, which makes his record all the more impressive.

He has, in the past, been compared to Manchester City star Sergio Aguero, although he has a long way to go before reaching the lofty heights of his compatriot.

The 21-year-old is apparently leaning more towards staying in Italy, with a move to Scudetto holders Juventus on the cards. Arsene Wenger remains hopeful, however, and will begin talks in the coming days.

We have been linked with a number of strikers recently, with someone needed to ease the burden on Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman has been in fine form since his return from injury, but, with Alexis Sanchez, misfiring there are few others stepping up regularly.

Dybala may not be the finished article just yet, but he is already more than capable of finding the back of the net, and he certainly has the potential to be a star of the future.

It’s difficult to see Wenger spending a huge amount on the young striker, but he would be an excellent addition to the squad.
