Arsenal news roundup 27/03/15: Theo Walcott saga continues; Smalling transfer rumours rubbished by fans

In today’s news roundup, the Theo Walcott drama continues, with the forward taking the time to post on Twitter and deny rumours of a falling out between himself and manager Arsene Wenger. Meanwhile, former player Paul Merson has also weighed in on the matter.

Elsewhere, Arsenal fans reacted in a very unenthusiastic manner when news emerged linking Chris Smalling with a move to the Emirates over the summer. Also, Arsenal starlet Chuba Akpom heads out on loan as Wojciech Szczesny recieves advice about his future at the club. All this and more in today’s roundup.

It was claimed by an Arsenal fan podcast, , that ex-Gunner Nigel Winterburn revealed that Wenger and Theo had been involved in a spat and that the manager had ‘told him off massively’.

However, the pacy winger has taken the unusual step of , calling them ‘complete nonsense’. The player, who has recently returned from a serious injury, is demanding improved terms on his contract, something the manager is reluctant to offer.

While the same thing happened a few seasons ago, when Walcott was offered a large pay rise to stay on at the club, this time around he is not as key to us as he once was; and there has been quite a bit of talk about whether Wenger should cut his losses and let the 25-year-old depart for good. However, , we cannot afford to lose the Englishman as he may ‘come back to haunt us’.

What do you think Gooners? #TheoIn or #TheoOut?

If you believe the rumour mills, then we could potentially see Manchester United defender Chris Smalling come to London in a £12 million move over the summer. The 25-year old has been linked to Arsenal almost every transfer window but has so far stayed put at Old Trafford; however that could be set to change according to .

Whether this deal will actually go through , but the fans have not waited to find out before voicing their opinions, most of which are totally in opposition to the deal.

Posts on Twitter if the proposed move goes through; which shows us one thing for certain. Arsenal fans might disagree about who we need, but we are united (pun intended) about who we do not want!

Nottingham Forest have confirmed Arsenal youngster Chuba Akpom will until the end of the season. He has mostly been a benchwarmer for the first team this season, regularly being named among the subs but not featuring on the pitch. It will be better for a player of his potential to be actually playing games somewhere; and hopefully when he comes back he will be able to challenge for a first team berth.

Former Poland international and Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek has said that compatriot Wojciech Szczesny must quit Arsenal after being replaced by David Ospina. Szczesny has only played once in the Premier League this year after a horror-show against Southampton on New Year’s Day – after which he was caught smoking in the showers. :

It’s a serious matter.

If I were in his place, I would wonder whether there are still opportunities to arise at Arsenal and wouldn’t wait as long as Fabianski, because you can see that Arsene Wenger is firmly set on David Ospina
