Arsenal plan move for Liverpool contract rebel, which may spell end of Theo Walcott

Arsenal are monitoring contract talks between Raheem Sterling and Liverpool as Arsene Wenger plans a sensational move for the 20-year-old, according to the .

Sterling is stalling on negotiations for a new deal and Reds boss Brendan Rodgers recently revealed that the England man doesn’t want to discuss a new deal until the summer (via ).

According to the report, Wenger wanted to bring Sterling to the club whilst he was at Queens Park Rangers but his family favoured a move to Liverpool.

Whilst last season’s runners up in the Premier League are under no immediate pressure to sell, the Evening Standard say that Arsenal have asked Sterling’s representatives to be kept updated on the situation.

At first viewing, a move for the winger seems impossible. However, should he want to return to London, we are the closet big club to where Sterling grew up in the north-west of the city.

Liverpool’s interest in our own contract-rebel Theo Walcott has also been well documented (via ), which means a swap deal isn’t completely beyond the realms of possibility – although it’s yet to be reported by a major newspaper.

The pair both play in wide attacking positions, and as we already have a wealth of attacking midfielders, Walcott’s future will certainly come into question, especially as he hasn’t yet signed a new deal on his contract which runs out in 2016 – although negotiations for an extension have begun (via ).
