Former England team-mate Ashley Cole joined Roma last summer after his contract expired at Chelsea.
However, Rooney insists he has no desire of following Cole to Italy, despite revealing his admiration for the league.
"I’ve never thought of playing in Italy," Rooney said ahead of tomorrow night's friendly with the Azzurri.

"Growing up I watched Italian football.
"They had some great teams like Juventus and AC Milan and I loved to watch Fiorentina because I loved watching [Gabriel] Batistuta
"But to be honest I don’t think I will be playing in Italy."
