Chuba Akpom looks set to secure a loan away from the club in the coming days, with Nottingham Forest and Norwich his two most likely destinations, according to .
The 19-year-old recently penned a new deal, committing his long term future to Arsenal. He has been handed a handful of first team opportunities so far this season, but is yet to become a regular fixture in the senior side.
Arsene Wenger clearly believes the teenager would be better served going out on loan however, as first team football is vital to his development at this stage of his career.
Norwich look to be in pole position to sign the young striker, but there are apparently a dozen clubs chasing his signature.
Nottingham Forest remain confident that they have a chance of bringing him to the club, believing they are in the best position to develop him as a player.
“We are always hopeful. The player we are talking about was actually at the ground — but to talk to Norwich. That is the level of competition we are at. We are in there competing with everyone, but so are many other teams,” said Forest boss Dougie Freedman.
“It is going to be very, very hard. Norwich and other sides who are not under an embargo can come in and offer more money. The same thing happened with Chris Wood when we tried to sign him. That is going to happen.
“We have not ended our interest in him. He was here to talk to Norwich, which is fine. I do know he has a number of teams who are in for him and I believe he will make his decision on Monday or Tuesday.
“I hope I will get the opportunity to meet up with him. We will not talk about money, we will not talk about anything other than how we can improve him as a player.”
With the likes of Gary Hooper and Cameron Jerome at Norwich, Akpom may struggle for regular first team football. He would certainly have a better chance of playing at Nottingham forest.
His growth is what is most important to us, so Forest seems like the best option available at the moment.
