Arsenal reject Lukas Podolski hits out at Italian media

Lukas Podolski has angrily defended himself from critics in the Italian media over his recent performances for Inter Milan, where he is on loan from Arsenal.

:

The forward was shipped out of the club in January after failing to score in the Premier League this season, a theme he has continued in Italy, with Podolski yet to hit the back of the net since he moved to the San Siro.

The German has also been voted the second worst signing in Serie A according to the , but says he feels recent criticisms are unfair and will do little to help him rediscover his form.

“People keep bringing up how the Italian media looks at me,” he said, reports .

“What can I do about it? Should I just dig myself into the ground and give up playing football?”

Podolski’s future at Arsenal is still under question with no obvious answer at the moment with the quoting the striker as saying he will return to the club at the end of the season and see out his contract to which expires in 2016 according to the .

But given Arsene’s willingness to send him away in January in order to give the likes of Chuba Akpom more first-team chances it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Podolski leave the club more permanently before next season.
